After the opening SEAD phase of the campaign, the team scores were as follows:

1.5 PIE 149 3 Sorties 14 SAMS 0 F16 lost
Iron Eagles 112 2 Sorties 11 SAMS 1 F16 lost
Euroteam 77 2 Sorties 8 SAMS 1 F16 lost
Iron Hand 46 2 Sorties 6 SAMS 3 F16 lost

Iron Hand led by Earthmover were badly hit by a combination of 2 unavoidable LOAs and one technical LOA, meaning they flew the 1st mission as a 2 ship, recovering slightly to fly the second sortie as a 3 ship but taking an inevitable hit on the scoring as a result. Still a commendable achievement, this team will be a force to be reckoned with when they fly at full strength from next week.

EuroTeam led by Turnburn fared better flying 2 sorties with a consistent 3 ship team, one of their number hit by an unfortunate last minute LOA which had a proportionate effect on their ability to take out as many SAM sites as the leading teams, but with 8 destroyed and a large hole blown in the air defence network, the signs are good for a successful campaign.

Iron Eagles led by Pinbeck had an extremely strong start, flying a consistent 4 ship over 2 sorties, taking out a very creditable 11 SAM sites but unfortunately losing 1 F16 in the process. This performance would have been good enough to take the lead, had both leading teams flown 2 missions each the scores were 112 - 107 in favour of the Eagles. Very well flown to all concerned.

1.5 PIE took the honours in the first week by skillfully managing 3 sorties in the 2 hour period when all the other teams were only able to fly 2. The team suffered disruption as one member was called to work at short notice, meaning the 1st sortie was flown as a 3 ship. The 3rd sortie paid dividends, enabling the destruction of 14 SAM sites in total and creating a massive hole in the air defence coverage. Furthermore they did all this without losing a single F16. Well done 1.5 PIE, once again setting the standard with a superb display of team flying.

Well done to all those who took part, roll on week 2 when the teams attempt to attack the enemy airfields in a series of OCA Strikes.

Sunday was my first introduction to the armoured fist campaign.

I have to say how different it was,
the care and discussion taken in planning the mission.
time taken to draw up a plan and consider the outcome in relation to the overall plan.

I haven't been this involved for a long time.

Superb idea PJ, my thanks and compliments to you.

For those who haven't tried it yet. Come on in the waters lovely.

Bigbrother,

I have now sent you a copy of the introduction document via email.

To clear up any missunderstanding, I sent the email "Announcing Operation Armoured Fist" at 23.15 on the 26th September. Due to the time difference of 1 hour with continental Europe, it is likely that anyone based there will have received it at 00.15 on the 27th September. Sorry for the confusion.

If anyone else has not seen a copy of this document, please do not hesitate to request one as it states the rules of the campaign, the background and a useful hints section.

Regards

PJC

I recieved 3 e-mails from you on the 26th September but they were not related to operation armoured fist.

Bigbrother, may I respectfully refer you to the email I sent to the whole squadron announcing the competition on the 26th September.

To quote the second paragraph:-

"This mini campaign is based on one TAC file, which is saved each week by the teams and used for the next weeks mission. In this way, the success (or failure) of one weeks mission has an effect on the relative difficulty of the next. Full details of the rules and outline of the campaign can be found in the attached document."

If you or any others did not receive that email and wish me to send out a copy of this document, please let me know and I will send you another copy. It is a little too long to post here. I regret very much that you did not get to see this document prior to commencement.

Regards

Is any other info available regarding Operation Armored Fist except the briefing we recieved last week by e-mail?

Yes BB whatever you can fit into 2 hours exactly. We attemted a 3rd sortie within a 27 minute window. I had a problem that required me to reboot and restart so take off was slightly delayed, although I did join in the air eventually. However I had to drop stores, hit burner & rtb immediately and I just managed to get back home with one minute left. The rest of the package had some good hits but unfortunately by the time the last F16 returned and we had all cleared the runway & escaped the game, we were just over 1 minute late - so no cigar :-( Timing discipline is crucial - but this is fun :-)

I didn't even know you were allowed to fly 3 sorties :-(

Thrilling!
If we only would have been able to stay within time for the third sortie...yes that's right, we tryed a third sortie but the last pilot landed 1 minute to late!!
Looking forward to sunday!
Cheers,

Stingray, 2iC Blue Eagles
