Posted - 17 Aug 2004 : 18:46:25 Command has decided after the result of the recent ballot to change executable to SP4.1 + MP5 in accordance with the wishes of the majority of the membership.
The change will be effective for the mission to be flown on Sunday 29th August.
The mission to be flown on Sunday 22nd August (next weekend) may be flown using SP4.1 + MP5 at your discretion provided all members of your group have it installed by then. If some of your flight do not have it installed then you must revert to SP3 + BMS 1.03. We are anxious to allow pilots a reasonable time to effect the changeover.
We sincerely hope that it will not be necessary to change this setup again for at least the remainder of the year.
SP4.1 + MP5 offers impressive stability in testing with up to 6 players with none of the avonics bugs/features which caused so many problems for so many people under SP3 + BMS 1.03.
For those of you who flew SP4 and were put off by the poor framerates on offer, we can assure you that the 4.1 patch has improved the situation dramatically to the point where we are happy to endorse it for official use within the squadron.
The installation is straightforward:- Falcon4 + 1.08 + SP4, apply patches, then apply the 4.1 patch. Finally you need to unzip the MP5 zipfile into your Falcon install folder allowing it to overwrite several files when prompted. To launch, use the MP5 exe icon instead of the SP4 one. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any difficulties and we will endevour to help with any problems you may have.
We look forward to our squadron flying united once again in the virtual skies.
