Posted - 27 Jan 2008 : 22:20:14 185th VFS Gathering 2008
Gentlemen our proposal this year will be that we all will have our yearly gathering in Sweden, on the weekend of 6-8 June, 2008 Accommodation will be provided to all free of charge if you are happy with modest facilities in a gymnasium. Bring you own sleeping bag and pillow. There will also be cooking facilities for you to make your own breakfast. The gymnasium has showers, etc., that we can use and if you are happy to sleep on sporting mats you don't need to bring sleepingmats/downmats as there are plenty available for use. There are of course other accommodations available, like hostels, B&B and hotels should you prefer that, but then of course that will cost you from 10 Euros up.
It can also be arranged with a visit to our technical museum in Malmö where they have a good display of Swedish fighters J35 Draken and they have a flight simulator that my friend was one of the creator to build.
We have a lot of good restaurants here in Sweden and, if Novac approves, we can go to a nightclub. Novac has to visit a Swedish nightclub to confim that he was right.
Transportation in Sweden between all events will be sorted out with some small petrol fees probably being required to cover costs.
The accommodation is 7.2 km from where I live and we can of course have a BBQ in my garden and you all have a chance to see the infamous Tracer's cockpit.LOL
Regarding flights to Sweden I would suggest EASY Jet as transportation, as they have very good prices. If you book well in advance, ie 2-3 months in advance, I have seen £1 fares to Copenhagen, which is a 20 minute drive from my home. Pickup in Denmark will be arranged.
Transportation in UK last was a nice surprise; my bus ticket from London to Bristol was £5 and I can happily recommend Megabus as a very comfortable and nice ride to Bristol.

Main attraction for the gathering will be the AIRSHOW IN DENMARK AT KARUP AIRBASE. Please see link below. A translation is below as they don't have it in English yet.
Danish Airshow 2008 Sunday the 8/6 2008 will DAF open the doors to AIRBASE KARUP. We hope you will enjoy a day with lots of activities for the whole family. Danish Airshow 2008 will have exhibitions of both Danish and foreign aircraft and display flying team as well, Swedish JAS39 Gripen, Danish F16's are among some of the display teams.
This homepage will be constantly updated. Please check for updates frequently.
So if you are a family or an enthusiast it doesn't matter, we have something for you.
Welcome 8. June 2008.

Posted - 09 Feb 2008 : 17:35:38 OK guys to make it more comfortable for all on the Sunday so we don't need to get up 05:00 in the morning and then Panic drive to Karup which is 365 km from where I live, I think we should aim for staying one night in a hostel in Visborg which is very close to Karup I will notify you guys about the price for one night It use to be very cheep. I have heard from some of you that you would like To stay for an other night here in Sweden so I will extend the time so we can have the gymnasium some extra nights.

Posted - 03 Feb 2008 : 22:36:17 So what's happening? I've provisionally thought about flying out on 6th June and coming home on the 8th or 9th. Do we have to leave the gymnasium on the 8th? or can I keep my gym mat for another night?
From what I can gather we have, Reds, Stingray, Ghostrider, Tiag, Homer and myself on the provisional list. Have I missed anyone?

Posted - 02 Feb 2008 : 10:30:13 Hi Tracer,
Never been to Sweden, but I hear its a wonderful place. I'd like to attend this event, but am wondering if any LAN play is anticipated. Obviously, it would be very difficult to bring a PC and gear from the UK, so will you be able to provide some PCs for the travellers?
