We have two missions specifically for 1.12 ready to go, but we could do with more. So once again, I'm asking you guys to show your creative talents and make us some challenging, yet fun, TE's for Sunday nights.
Anyone who hasn't made any yet for whatever reason, come and have a go.
Remember, if you get five TE's used on the official Sunday flights you will be awarded the TE creators ribbon.

Just to add a quick technical comment. The viability or otherwise of using old TEs in the latest patch version is mainly down to the number of data edits between the two versions and any changes to the way the exe handles the data. As a general rule of thumb, the greater the number of data changes, the greater the chance of stability issues.
As LP put out a read me with all of the major changes listed we can easily see if a large number of data edits have been made. If we are unsure we can contact LP for direction as we did a couple of patches ago and they said don't use them.
With specific regard to the current patch, there are very few data changes from 1.10 and therefore, subject to specific multi player testing for each TE in the 1.10 bank, we should be safe to use them in 1.12.

I'd like to add, that if we all work off the oldest version, how are we supposed to ever get past the last version unless we all have two installs of AF? At some point we need to move forward, this meaning that we move to the most usefull version for online usage. That at the time being 1.12, therefore waiting for older version TE's to be used up will not help us move forward. I will also add that maybe it is portent for command to issue a time frame for the chaneg, i.e in two weeks we will move to the newest patch, etc, which gives two weeks for missions to be upgraded and tested, and new to be written.

I myself have only written 2 TE's. So I'm no expert in the area!
What I was lead to believe in the days of F4, or possibly AF, was that if you had a TE written with, ie, 1.09 and you wished to convert it to 1.12 all you had to do was to edit it and add "extra unit"..........Something that had no purpose to the TE.
And that action would convert it to the current falcon version.
BigBrother, as a member of the AF test team is that correct? Or anyone else?
If thats the case it would solve a LOT of the problems we have when we upgrade to a new patch.

While I understand your sentiments, particularly as I have a 1.10 TE in the bank, there was much impatience from many pilots that we hadn't moved to 1.12. We bowed to the demands of the squadron.
With regards to 1.10 TE's, I want to test some of them on line to see if they work. I have no reason to think they won't but some pilots are sensitive about the issue, in some cases quite rightly. So, I have a few in the bank that are 1.10, but not too many.
More importantly I want to see more of our TE writing virgins having a go and injecting some new ideas and angles into our missions.

Agree with you there Ballistic.
I submitted one for testing before change and have another ready to go.
Actually logged on tonight to ask that question but you beat me to it.
Will TE's written for 1.10 be used after testing for compatibilty with 1.12 or are they binned?
I enjoy creating TE's but do not want to see that effort wasted.
It is something we should think about for future patches.

I write this with no intention of causing offence to anyone but just to point out our rather crazy way of moving onto patches imo.
We upgrade to the latest patch when we still have unused TE's to be tested and flown. Those TE's in the older patch become wasted and hence you have to put out notes for people to write new TE's as we have a chance of running short. I see notes on the web pages about bugs in the new patch and I remember us having to resort back to an earlier patch before, so are these new TE's potentially also going to be wasted ? This imo sickens off TE writers for their wasted time and effort. Does the TE writer still get the credit for submitting a TE - even if it hasn't been flown? not that it matters much to me, I haven't written that many.
What I'm getting at here is whether the upgrade to the next patch and leaving us short on TE's is more important than completing TE's that are in the bank.
I think this should be considered more carefuly.
