Posted - 28 Nov 2005 : 13:01:27 Training for Wed 30 November will cover Instrument Flying and Navigation.
You haven't really flown the F-16 until you've done a night, NVG off landing at an airfield in poor visibility. Its a real white-knuckle ride!
This lesson will cover all of the instruments required to fly in poor weather/at night. It will also cover navigation using the TACAN and the use of instrument plates for IFR take-offs and landings. Finally there will be a quick tip on how to use the TACAN to align yourself with the runway heading for landing, which can be used even in good visibility.
Not only will these skills improve the accuracy of your VFR flying, they will enable you to find your way around without relying on Steerpoints and help to minimises your chances of CFIT (Controlled Flight Into Terrain) in poor visibility.
