Operation SOLID TRUSS – Mission 7 – Sunday 22nd February 2026

[CLASSIFIED: SECRET (185th VFS Eyes Only)

Egyptian ground forces continue to advance in numbers towards the Israel/Egypt border with a large buildup of enemy forces moving along the northern coastal road unopposed. To assist our ground forces, the 185th/186th VFS is tasked with Air Interdiction of the advancing enemy units. Two flights of F-16I-52+ SUFA from the 185th have been tasked with interdicting these units, supported by a flight of F15-C from the 186th providing air cover.
The majority of enemy battalions are made up of M1A1 Abrahams MBT and M113 IFV in support. Priority targets for this mission are armoured vehicles, particularly the MBTs.

INTEL

The airbases at Faid and Abu Suwayr are home to several squadrons of Egyptian F16-32, F16-40 and F16-52+, these remain intact and other enemy air threats have been encountered during previous missions – notably Mig29 and Rafale fighter aircraft. No SAM units have been detected in the area but pilots should keep alert to the threat of MANPADs and other mobile air defence systems that may be advancing with the armoured battalions.

SUPPORT

NATO continues to authorise logistical and EW support to Israeli forces. Whilst NATO forces are not permitted to engage in active combat with Egyptian forces (unless fired upon), UN Charter 11979 has authorised limited use of AEW capability. To that end, an E3A Sentry (Escorted by 2x F15C) has been tasked from RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus and is due to arrive on station at 18:30(L).
