The focus has shifted once again. To aid in the push towards Seoul, the 2 x SA-15s in the 115th HQ battalion are being targeted for destruction. This will allow ground attack aircraft to operate with greater freedom.

Package 2181
Panther 2 - 4 x F-16C-50 - destroy 2x SA15 in 115th HQ Batt. Tcn 11/74
Warhawk 1 - 4 x F-16C-50 - destroy enemy air defenses, Tcn 12/75
Jackal 3 - 1 x F-16C-50 - Pegasus AWACs

Panther 2 has been provided with a mix of HARMs and Mavericks.
Warhawk 1 has been provided with JSOW-As.

Threats other than the SA-15s include Shilkas, heavy AAA, and Mig19s, and 29s.

Mission success will be awarded for the destruction of both SA-15 vehicles.
Partial success will be awarded for the destruction of a total of 12 SAM/AAA targets across the package.

Good Hunting.

We were first up and with Pegasus providing excellent AWACs support, we were vectored towards a couple of MiG 29As. We broke into a bracket, as did the MiG's but I shot mine down while the eastern one turned tail, avoiding 2's slammer and those of the chasing FA-18s.

At this point 2 had a tech crash and I was left to turn west to more contacts that AWACs warned me of. These were no factor and our Patriots took them down. I set up a NW/SE CAP while #2 rejoined and Panther commenced their attack on the SA15's. As they finished their attack I had turned cold. Panther went air to air while #2 launched his AGM 154As at the target. I had a good view as I easily spotted the smoke from Panthers hits and it was a spectacular light show as #2s munitions hit home. He immediately went AA while I set up for my attack. I launched my AGM-154As together with 100foot seperation, killing the remainder of the HQ battalion.

I joined with #2 on CAP in support of Panther.

We headed NE but the MiG 19s that Panther were after seemed to be dealt with so we turned west to attack another pair. (It turns out on of Panther's MiGs sneaked through although it was killed by friendly AI).

We sorted out targets and killed a MiG each.

While Panther 22 finished his ground attacks we CAP'd with Panther 21. There were MiG-29S's to the north and were loaded with R-77's. Something to watch for next time out. We engaged two of them and #2 took one of them down. We turned cold and fuel was getting low. AWACs called the MiG-19s were on our tail and Panther 21 took them on but with no result.

Our flight path led us straight onto Rwy 13R for a straight in approach due to low fuel.

A good mission, particularly air to air wise, which we haven't had for a while.

The enemy aircraft seem to be able to outrun most missiles and even the MiG 19s seem to be quick off the mark in defence which isn't realistic. Something for the Devs?

During ingress Warhawk1 engaged MiG-29. Put a orbit in for separation then supported but not required to engage. Cleared to proceed to target both SA-15 were in same location. #1 dropped 2x GBU-54 and shacked both targets.

Warhawk were cleared to drop bombs while Panther went on CAP. Vectored onto a 2-ship MiG-19 to WNW. #1 fired 2x Slammer but bandits dragged both shots out. Second 2-ship of MiG-19 became a factor so #2 was directed to engage left group while #1 engaged new group. #2 fired 1x Slammer but it was trashed. #1 fired 2x slammer, x1 splash on Northern group.

With Warhawk1 having now competed their A2G attacks, Panther2 turned cold and were deloused by Warhawk1. 1x MiG-19 leaker but was shot down by AI. Wasn’t clear if Pegasus had this aircraft in picture.

Now A2G, #2 dropped 2x GBU-54 and killed 3 trucks. #1 took a HARM shot on a group of 3 SA-15 to West of primary target and killed a further SA-15. After this #1 had a CTD and had to restart.

Turning hot to North, Panther deloused Warhawk who were being chased by a pair of MiG-19. The MiGs turned cold and with Panther22 below Bingo the flight RTB and did a straight in approach onto R13R with #2 landing with 1200lbs of fuel.

Overall a good mission with lots going on, especially A2A but a few technical issues with Comms and 2 in group having CTDs. Maybe a coincidence that both were using RTT client to extract MFD.
