Ponikve Airport is back in action. Repairs have been carried out since our first mission, and it has now rehomed 3 squadrons of G-4, 2 squadrons of MiG-29 and 1 squadron of Mig-21.
This time, we (almost) have the weather on our side. Sunny over homeplate and fair over target.
There are no known SAM threats in the area but be on the look-out for mobile SAMs.
The airport will be well defended, and the escort flight must have eyes on it at all times for enemy QRA.

MS Criteria - Ponikve runway destroyed, no SAM losses, max of one loss to package from enemy aircraft.
PS Criteria - Ponikve runway destroyed, one loss to SAMs, max two losses to package from enemy aircraft.

PS
SEAD 8nm ahead and flight in box, 20nm separation.
Going feet dry, pop up 2 ship MiG-29A threat from airbase just right of track. 1st element already passed so second element committed while first element went West before turning back to support, both MiGs splashed.
Back on ingress picked up MiG-21 threats East of track, 2nd element monitored and committed while 1st element Pushed to target in support of SEAD. Element splashed MiG-21 but then committed on further threats to East that were no factor to package and this delayed rejoin and mutual support. They destroyed these threats with support of AI.
Coming into target, 1st element picked up at least 4xMiG-29 scrambling from target airfield. SEAD were instructed to flow West for separation while Escort engaged and had to press into threat in order to stop them engaging SEAD. As 2nd element were unable to provide mutual support. Unfortunately #2 was hit by an R-27R during this exchange. With Escort turning cold, SEAD were now able to delouse. Result was 2 kills for #1 and 1 kill for #2 during this exchange. 2nd element now back in for mutual support but battle was done.
Flight went into CAP, 2nd element identified 4-ship 40nm North of target. Committed and bandits killed with support from AI.
No further engagements and Strike calling Miller Time, RTB for a straight in onto R23 due to low fuel.
Important reminders about importance of keeping mutual support in the flight and threat Prioritization. Also reminder to defend against the threat, in this case R-27R being fired using sensors in aircraft to maintain SA.

After a bit of difficulty with hot starts from myself, we set off in lead of the package. On passing Tivat airbase, a couple of Mig29s were scrambled and appeared on our 5 o'clock at 13nm range. FALCON called us off to the west and proceeded to engage the pair along with friendlies.
Resuming the mission, we had spike from an Straight Flush on our 1 o'clock but it turned off as soon as we were in range.
Gekko went into 10nm trail as we had planned to have a SEAD patrol focused on the target airbase.
A pair of Mig-21s followed by a pair of Mig-29s scrambled from our target (called out by FALCON). As I was already within 15nm from them, I turned away and let Gekko proceed hot from his location 8nm behind me. Gekko was unable to find the targets, but FALCON continued to engage the targets from a further 5nm back.
Gekko now turned cold and I turned hot. By this time the Mig-29s were very close behind Vosene and I was able to locate them and fire on both quickly in TWS mode. Another 4 Mig-21s were in the area but these were Albanians and confusing the situation somewhat.
JACKAL was given the green light to proceed to the target, the SA-6 was still spiking some of FALCON flight from some distance to the south, but neither I nor Gekko were getting any active indications.
I asked Gekko to keep an eye on the SAM threats while I went to provide close cover for JACKAL on their approach to the target runway. I had good visual contact on Fisty on his bombing run, confirming good hits on the runway. As I turned away from the target area, I was engaged by AAA and got hit at 15,000 feet. I was initially OK, but steadily lost power and all systems and had to eject.
Gekko had fired on a Fire Can radar and the Straight Flush of the SA-6 but it was mobile at the time and the HARM missed.

PS
Ingress went as planned with a minor deviation West of track to keep us out of the AA shenanigans. NOE at our Push, then onto target at Rwy heading. We were slightly off-set to the North but #1 managed to side-step back on and dropped the bombs, #2 went round for a second chance. 100% hits on the bombs and all 3 Runway sections destroyed. Once Dakota, we called Miller Time, rejoined and headed back for a straight-In with no issues, although #2 landed a little heavy and bent his jet. A bottle of 20 year old malt for the crew chief should set matters straight.
The 4 things a wingman is allowed to say:
1.Two 2.Lead, you're on fire. 3.I'm bingo fuel. 4.I'll take the fat one.... :/
