BMS 4.34.4
Objective
After discovering a large concentration of enemy ground forces in the last mission, we are going to follow up.
Enemy air threats are still significant and we therefore have an Escort flight to protect the package as they engage targets in their kill box.
A third flight has been added to the package to clear some SA15s in the area.
Package 142
CAJUN5 - ESCORT - 4x F-16C-50. Protect the package from air threats.
VIPER6 - AI - 4x F-16C-50. Destroy enemy ground forces near Toyotomi Far E Bridge.
WARHAWK2 - DEAD - 4x F-16C-50. Destroy SA15s defending Esashi Army Base.

MS: 16 enemy ground units destroyed. Maximum 2 losses to the package from enemy action. 2 x SA15s destroyed (only if Warhawk2 has at least 2 aircraft flying)
PS: 8 enemy ground units destroyed. Maximum 4 losses to the package from enemy action.
Results Flight Leads in this Sunday's official mission, "New Millennium 12" are requested to post a debrief of their flight's actions, including any lessons learned or that should be learned by others.
Please put the following information at the top of your post:

Last to take off, we proceeded to our holding point, 40NM south of our box and were picking up movers. CAJUN5 requested delouse, #1 was tally singleton hot, already damaged by CAJUN53, dispatched with second fox3. Shortly after we were cleared to push. #1 and #2 engaged small groups of movers, #3 was able to spot and engage a larger tank battalion SW of our box. All bombs on target for #3 and few misses from #1 and #2 due to clouds getting in the way or bomb not tracking. Called miller time and rejoined for a straight in, CAJUN53 and 54 overtook us on final due to fuel. Good comms and visual, #1 and #2 landed and #3 had to go around for safety. #3 went a bit too far away which pushed WARHAWK2 to delay their final not knowing where #3 was. Lesson learnt next time to follow missed approach and call on UHF. Great flight overall.

Lost Mango early on due to tech issues. Decided to keep Vosene and Fisty as an element and go alone up front.
Shortly after passing STPT3 AWACS reported a couple of groups, one to the North and one to the Northwest. Friendlies took out the north group and then the northwest group. I fired on one of the Mig29s but my missile went after one of the friendlies and I was lucky they managed to evade. Reminder to not fire AMRAAMs into furballs!
Vosene and Fisty were now in the lead followed by myself and Warhawk2. We picked up 3 equidistant groups to the west of STPT6. Vosene sorted the targets - he would take the left group (2 x Mig25), Fisty the right group (2x Mig25) and I would take the middle group (2x Su30SM). The end result of this was 6 AMRAAMs fired and 6 enemy aircraft destroyed. Fisty did get a bit too close (12nm) to the middle group (I was 5nm behind Vosene and Fisty at this point) and he got an R-77 and R-27ER for his troubles, but managed to evade both without too much fuss. Warhawk2 were in great position to support if required. Viper6 had been advised to hold position to stay well away from this engagement.
We had enough time at this point to regroup and progress to the CAP area/killbox.
Approaching this, we picked up 4 hot groups arrayed from the N to the NE. (2x Mig29 and 2x Su33 north, 2x Mig29 NNE, and 2x Su27 NE). Vosene and Pegasus were in lead, followed by Fisty on his own 10nm behind. Warhawk2 was 10nm to Fisty's East. Vosene fired on and killed one of the Northern Mig29s and turned cold, I fired on and killed one of the Su33s and turned cold, and Fisty fired on and killed both of the NNE Mig29s. During this engagement, Vosene evaded 2x R-77s (fired just before and just after he fired his AMRAAM), and Fisty evaded 2x R-27ER and 2x R-77s fired from the surviving northern Mig29 and Su33. Fisty did again get within 13nm of these targets, but aggressive evasion (turn cold, gates and countermeasures) got him to safety.
Warhawk2, turning in support from their eastern position, were able to take out the surviving Mig29 and Su33 that were chasing and firing on Fisty.
This left the 2x Su27s to the NE. These were being engaged by Hornets, but they were not killed. One of them pursued Warhawk21 until deloused by a combo of Vosene and Viper61. In hindsight, Viper6 should have been warned earlier to maintain separation from this NE group of Su27s. In the end though, no harm done. The remaining Su27 was chased off to the north by Hornets.
Now, finally, we were able to setup a working CAP on the kill box and call in Viper6 to their targets. Both fuel and weapons were starting to become an issue so Viper6 was requested to expedite :)
Just as Viper6 were finishing their ground attacks, a pair of hostiles were approaching from the NW. I turned to monitor/engage and decided to give them a reason to turn off their pursuit. Instead of firing on both of them I only picked up and fired on one with two AMRAAMs (the other was beaming). Warhawk2 managed to delouse me of the remaining Su30 as I was running for home.
All flight RTB successfully with straight in approach.
Overall, an amazingly successful mission given the two very large engagements where we were heavily outnumbered. Good coordination, communication and evasion. A big thanks to Vosene for helping out with target sorting and intra-package comms when things got busy.

Took off after Cajun 5 and headed towards the CAP area just south of Viper's target area. The task was to support Cajun should they be swamped.
That swamping arrived pretty quickly.
While still south of the CAPs Cajun came across a veritable wall of enemy aircraft. They engaged and turned cold and Jules and I went forward as there were lots of contacts on the FCR. There were too many for us so we hook turned before they got too close with the aim of regrouping. However, Cajun had been superb in taking them down.
Viper were asked to hold while we progressed north tour CAP. Before long we had a new wall of aircraft heading our way, Mostly from the north but with some others off to the NE and E.
Cajun took the first bite out of the northerly enemy and asked for a de-louse. I had real concerns about the enemies east of us though. We continued on in support of Cajuns attack of Su-33s and MiG-29s and took down a MiG-29 and Su-33 between us. Jules hooked cold as instructed and as I was turning I has two Su-27s inbound. I fired at one and evaded an R-77. My shot was outrun but the other Su-27 was hit by Noodle.
It calmed down after that and we established our CAP at FL300. Viper were called in to commence their attack.
The final engagement occurred as the mission was completed. Viper were on their way home when two Su-30s approached us from the north west. Pegasus took care of one but as he turned for home the remaining fighter was locking him up. We both fired on this target (albeit far too close) and Jules got his second kill.
We returned home and made one orbit while Gekko landed. We went in to land in trail. Jules closed up too much and had to go around. I asked him to make sure his gear was up as he sped up. They already were but he dropped them again at over 300 knots and wrecked them. We all watched from the parking ramp as he managed to belly. Unfortunately it got away from him and he ejected before the aircraft exploded. But, as we have heard so often, "Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing."
A good mission and good flying by Jules.
