Plan ===
Rolling T/O as per SOPs Second element practice Tac turns Boresight on AD unit at Stp 4 Confirm boresight successful on ship group at Stp 5 Locate T-55 Bn around Stp 8 Engage Bn with Mavericks using 15nm Base @FL150 Min Alt 10,000ft AGL (from rad alt) RTB using Overhead Break
Debrief Points
Good Tac-Form but ensure visual and correct starting formation to maintain safe separation.
All Boresighting completed successfully.
Enemy Bn located North of airfield moving South.
#1 setup attack pattern and aircraft in 5nm trail.
#3 missed 5 of 6 Mavs due to firing from too far away. Lesson identified and will be corrected.
#4 over g of aircraft pulling out of dive. Hung stores resulted. Ensure hard desk is respected. Set Low alt warning for Bitchin’ Betty reminder.
For this range pattern with 15nm Base at FL150 it requires a gentle 5-10 degree dive to ensure Mav is within launch parameter keyhole to launch.
When locking on with Mav, ensure seeker is in narrow (zoomed FOV) as it can create issues if in Expanded FOV.
If you get a flashing cross when locked you must unlock, manoeuvre to within launch parameters then relock the missile otherwise it may miss the target.
#4 jettisoned hung stores over sea then #3 and #4 completed more tac-form training before #1 retook lead.
#1 led flight back in Echelon right for an overhead break approach to Kimpo 14L with a descending left hand turn for the Initial.
Need to work on getting into formation more quickly.
Hit numbers with great overhead breaks, pattern and landings by entire flight.
Recommendation to practice Mav engagements offline and during week with MP sessions.
