Posted - 03 Dec 2018 : 17:54:29 Mission for this week will be a continuation of the tac turn element training from Combat Spread and further KOTAR range work, this time using Mavericks but with a focus on positioning in the range patten. We’ll also boresight the Mavericks. Landing will be an Overhead Break.

KOTAR specific range ops. Note that for this flight we’ll start with a Base of 15nm for Mavericks and then reduce this as required. Also note “Off” calls are only made of “Off Dry” due to the risk of stepping on “Base” and “In” calls.

Good training mission, excellent Tac-Form from 2 and 3.
Key learning points:
Ensure you do a check once Boresighting complete to confirm Handoff work.
No need to overfly targets, once Mavs launched turn to downwind.
For static targets set a precision steerpoint near area with easily recognizable features. That way even if Boresighting not achieved Mav seeker head will slew to Stp and you can adjust from there using known reference points.
Don’t assume, listen to Lead directives. E.g. assuming going trail when Lead directed Echelon Left.
