Posted - 01 Dec 2016 : 12:54:06 As a temporary measure, the 77th squadron has been moved to San Pancrazio AB. Tower control is not in place so care is needed. Nearby Casale (UHF 386.875) can be used for landing in an emergency.
Your next mission is to hit targets in Valjevo. The primary target is the Valjevo Ammunition Plant. The secondary (subject to enough pilots) is Valjevo Army Base.
This flight is deep into enemy territory and you should be aware of various active SAM threats en route. Intel continues to affirm that the enemy has brought in extra SAM defences. At least two SA-2 are close to the target.
Fig 1: SA-2s at the two targets
Air threats continue to be low but as with the SAM threats it is believed that additional higher grade enemy aircraft are on their way to the theatre.
Fig 2 - Combined Routes of Package 21940.
Cobra 3 and Devil 4 of the 22nd squadron, shall take off from Casale AB while Avenger 1 and Blade 2 of the 77th squadron take off from San Pancrazio AB.
Package 21940 Avenger 1 is a four ship strike flight. MS is for the Factory, 2 x Warehouses and Manufacturer to be destroyed. PS will be given for the destruction of the Factory and the Manufacturer.
Blade 2 is a four ship strike flight. MS is for the Depot, Admin Building and Ammo Dump to be destroyed. PS will be given for the destruction of the Depot and Ammo Dump.
Devil 4 is the four ship escort and Package Commander, tasked to protect the interdiction flight. IDA will be from this flight. MS no AA losses to the interdiction flight, PS one loss to the interdiction flight.
Cobra 3 is a four ship SEAD flight. MS is no radar SAM or radar AAA losses to the package, PS is a maximum of one similar loss.

The weather is poor at home plates and fair at the target as the weather system moves SE with more storms coming in from the north. Choose your weapons accordingly.
Good Hunting

Result: MF
Uneventful ingress up to the FLOT Then triple sandwich, Highest threat Mig29A's in the centre with Mig 19/17's left and right.
Having engaged the Mig29's we turned defensive where upon I was hit by a friendly missile.
Mango managed the flight from therein. He and Echion managed to shoot down some enemy aircraft before RTB.
Well done to Mango in a very difficult situation.
Learning points, the tape shows that Escort didn't get sufficiently ahead of the other groups.
Mango if you have anything to add, please do so.

Uneventful ingress up to the FLOT when we had to loiter, waiting for the Escort to clear the way. At that time one lonely MiG-29A flew towards our position and was shot down.
With the Escort and SEAD down, we've tested the possibility to finish the mission, but RTB'd after the SA-10 showed up on RWR.
On the way back #2 and #3 engaged a pair of SU-33, but the kills didn't count on debrief screen. |

Cobra31: "Poppy" AA=0 AG=0 EJT Cobra32: "Fisty" AA=1 AG=0 EJT Cobra33: "Zipgun" AA=1 AG=1 EJT Cobra34: "Flyingstone" AA=1 AG=0 EJT
Entire flight lost due to a merge with MiG-29A's (three groups).
Decision was to press to target because the escort was engaging the MiG's. With little A-A SA (we we're heads down the entire time) we switched to A-A when the escort called defensive. Picked up the MiG-29's at 10 miles and we pressed: going defensive at that point would mean suicide. After the merge the northern group leaked and it descended from a four vs many to a 1 vs 2+ which was a mugs game.
A lot of mistakes: and a lot of lessons learnt. I vote for a refly of this mission (flyingstone's idea) and a game plan for the campaign as discussed on TS tonight. Let's discuss on a separate thread.

RTB'd after an SA10 appeared on the RWR and after a holding turn in the hope it was taken down, no confirmation came and we heard the RTB call, so we RTB'd with an Su33 kill on the way. |
