This week we shall focus our attention to clearing the path to the NW of SA-11s. We know that all the immediate SA-10 Flap Lids are down.

The package shall consist of two DEAD flights, Gypsy 1 and Lobo 2, with Python 3 acting as air cover.

Air threats are present in the area, including Eurofighter Typhoons. The escort flight shall need to be alert to cover both flights and instruct retreat to individual flights as required.

The image below is a recent snap shot of air traffic.

Lobo 2 shall take off from Chongju while Gypsy 1 and Python 3 take off from Nowhere (Yechon) AB.

Package 21273
Gypsy 1 is a four ship DEAD flight. Your target area is the eastern one. SA-11 sites have been reported at PPT 57, 58, 62 and 63. MS is for five launchers to be destroyed. PS will be awarded if the three are destroyed.

Lobo 2 is a four ship DEAD flight. Your target area is the western one. SA-11 sites have been reported at PPT 56, 59, 60 and 61. MS is for five launchers to be destroyed. PS will be awarded if the three are destroyed.

Python 3 is the four ship escort and Package Commander, tasked to protect the DEAD flights.
IDA will be from this flight.
MS no AA losses to the DEAD flights, PS one loss to the DEAD flights.

Timings
TO for Gypsy 1 is 13:40hrs with PP at 13:53 at FL280. IDM 1, VHF 1, tacan 11/74
TO for Python 3 is 13:42hrs with PP at 13:55 at FL260. IDM 3, VHF 3, tacan 21/84
TO for Lobo 2 is 13:43:30hrs with PP at 13:53 at FL290. IDM 2, VHF 2, tacan 16/79

Flight path is fixed for mutual support.

The weather is still inclement to fair but this weather system is moving SE with more storms coming in from the north. Choose your weapons accordingly.

Good Hunting

Rolling take-off under IFR conditions went without hitch, then rejoined in clear skies above 12'000. Very soon after rejoin, we picked up a jamming contact which turned out to be a F/18 2-ship (reviewed on ACMI) in hot from the northeast. We called this in to ESC to take care of and turned west to get separation and allow ESC to deal with the threat, however once we'd passed we picked up another threat inbound from the northwest. Knowing that ESC were busy with the F-18s, and deeming the second contact a threat (declared as SU-30s hot at 40-50 miles) 1 and 2 sprinted to SLammer range with 3 supporting. All 3 of us got slammers off at them and fisty's damaged one, and a friendly SA-17 finished him off. I believe Poppy got his wingman just after he fired on Sabre, which he managed to avoid. A review of the ACMI shows the F-18s were also downed by friendly SAMs.
Once cleared in to Tgt, we continued as fragged and picked up 2 SA-11 sites, one southeast and one northwest of the Tgt STP. We engaged both and managed to destroy 3 (Vosene got a hit on a building, which probably contained another). Also for future SA, we picked up a SA-10 about 50 miles northeast of the Tgt STP.

Egress went without a hitch, but Sabre had a slight fuel issue due to defensive BFM against the earlier SU-30 engagement. He went in first on ILS with vosene and I following after deconflicting with Lobo2, who were sharing our runway. Overall a successful mission with good comms and an improvement on last week's FL performance.

Mission Success

MS

There was a bandit group on the ingress and the flight was directed west.
With two jamming contacts to the north west we turned south to give the
escort time to handle the threat. Once cleared to continue we turned to
our target area, but the briefed SA-11 didn't show up. Testing 20 miles
further one SA-11 became active and was destroyed by #2.

Uneventful egress.
