We shall use the efforts and data from the last mission to attack the Songnim Textile Factory.

Reasonable damage has been done to SA-11 sites and all SA-10 Flap Lids are believed to have been destroyed. There are still SA-11s about, but as we know their approximate location the route shall circumvent them.

Air threats are numerous at the moment and the escort flight shall need to be alert and focused. All the enemy flights on the screen below are two ships.

Falcon 2 and Fury 3 shall take off from Chongju and Cowboy 1 from Nowhere (Yechon) AB.

Package 20032
Cowboy 1 is a four ship strike flight. MS is for all structures to be destroyed. PS will be awarded if the processor and the factory are destroyed.

A secondary target is available 2 miles NW in the form of a steel factory.

Falcon 2 is the four ship escort and Package Commander, tasked to protect the strike flights. See if you can find the enemy AWACs that Blood 2 couldn't find last time out.
IDA will be from this flight.
MS no AA losses to the strike flights, PS one loss to the strike flight.

Fury 3 is a four ship SEAD flight. MS is no radar SAM or radar AAA losses to the package, PS is a maximum of two similar losses.

Timings
PP for Cowboy 1 is 10:50hrs at FL220. IDM 1, VHF 1, tacan 11/74
TOT for Cowboy 1 is 11:08hrs at FL180.
PP for Falcon 2 is 10:44hrs at FL250. IDM 2, VHF 2, tacan 16/79
PP for Fury 3 is 10:46hrs at FL270. IDM 3, VHF 3, tacan 21/84

Flight path is fixed for mutual support.

The weather is still inclement to fair but this weather system is moving SE with more storms coming in from the north. Choose your weapons accordingly.

Good Hunting

Mission Fail, Only one primary target destroyed. Well done Mango

Uneventful ingress until steer point 4. Asked to loiter until area was clear, anti clockwise circuit over the sea towards steer 3 until cleared forward. Engaged the target with JDAMS. Mango scored 3 ground kills, Sabre's weapons went on holiday.

Then RTB and landed.

Uneventful ingress. 4 SA-11 over the target area, 3 could be destroyed, the last
one never became a factor for the package. Capping south of target area, we turned
north to help the Escort. #2 was shot down, turning too late. #1 took one MiG-29S
down and escorted the Strike flight back.

MS - no losses to strike flight

Ingress as fragged, nice setup just north of the flightplan to prevent a flanking threat on sead with strike in tow.
No awacs past push point, degraded SA. SEAD engaged SA-11 around the flightplan and warned us (thanks!) whenever we got too close. After a mud 11 call we stayed just east of the flightplan A26 to deconflict and setup our CAP N/S.
We had multiple contacts beaming us from the N/W to the S/E at 40-50 miles. But we couldn't engage because of the SA-11 curtain there. So we monitored and that went well until min. 15 in the AO when 3 or 4 escort groups engaged us from the north (we skipped anything flying slower than 300kts, VID not possible due to weather).
We had nails 29 at our 10-12 and 2. We engaged and #1 and #3 we're skosh after the second attack (we held the first three waves off). RTB was called and strike egressed with 2 groups of 29 pressing from the north.
Outgunned and outnumbered we tried to run but that would leave the strike unsupported.
#3 stuck with the strike and #2 engaged with SKOSH #1 in support due to the closeness of the group at our N/E (right 2 o'clock). #2 got KIA (MAR) and a leaker pressed on #1. #1 went defensive and extended (running for our lives). Strike was egressing at around 370kts (I think that is what I heard) so we couldn't go gate out of there. A new group from the north pressed on strike and #1 and #3 went hot to dogfight in a last ditch effort to get the package out with the risk of our own jets. And we did: Escort KIA.

Lessons learnt:
1. RTB = RTB. Dont cruise out of there, go out fast, and save the fuel when you're safe on egress.
1a. Escort provides CAP for X amount of time. Escort should be able to depart when combat ineffective (skosh).
2. Escort can not hold the CAP for 10+ minutes protecting the package. SEAD on swing role lost one supporting us. Loitering at push point is something we do as a package or not at all. The formation configuration should provide cover for the strike in the AO.
Once the sead and escort got into the AO, it is like honey to a bee. We wake up everything that's there. Once that happens, the strike should on their way out. We give the element of surprise away and we went through 4 airframes and pilots tonight.
3. I think we should frag a sead only when there are SA-10's or legacy SAM systems: SA-11 should be attacked in a CAS capacity (SDB's, CBU-105 jdam cbu).
