We carried out a reasonable mission last time out, diminishing the resources in the area just north of the central FLOT.

Our intel tells us that the enemy's supplies are in better shape than ours, so we shall continue to hit their supply depots.

This time our target is Kongse-dong Depot, a little further into enemy territory in the NE.

SEAD will once again have a very important role to play. One SA-11 launcher survived from our mission last time out, but we know that there are more SA-11 units on the coast and to the north. All or some of these may cover the target or the route there. These must be neutralised for the strikes to be successful. Rumours have it that an SA-10 is soon to receive a replacement Flap-lid. There are two SEAD Escort flights this time out.

The routes for this mission are shown below. Currently the air picture has calmed somewhat. Do not let your guard down as the enemy still has a lot of airframes with which to hamper our objectives.

Package 16533 in Take-off Order
Hunter 3 is the four ship escort and Package Commander, tasked to protect the strike package.
IDA will be from this flight.
MS no AA losses to the strike flight, PS one loss to the strike flight.

Intruder 2 is a two ship SEAD, tasked to eliminate any pop up radar SAM threats and advise the package commander if there are too many threats for the strike flight. MS no losses to radar SAMs or radar guided AAA, PS one similar loss to any flight. It is known that active SA-11s cover the area. These should be your primary focus.

Talon 4 is another two ship SEAD, tasked to eliminate any pop up radar SAM threats and advise the package commander if there are too many threats for the strike flight. MS no losses to radar SAMs or radar guided AAA, PS one similar loss to any flight. It is known that active SA-11s cover the area. These should be your primary focus.

Vandal 1 is a four ship strike flight. Targets at Kongse-dong Depot are the radar and the depot. MS is both targets destroyed, PS is destruction of the depot only.

Time on Target
TOT for Vandal 1 is 02:22hrs at FL260 to FL180. IDM 1, VHF 1, tacan 11/74
TOT for Intruder 2 is 02:19hrs at FL280. IDM 2, VHF 2, tacan 16/79
TOT for Hunter 3 is 02:17hrs at FL300. IDM 3, VHF 3, tacan 21/84
TOT for Talon 4 is 02:19hrs at FL290. IDM 4, VHF 4, tacan 26/89

Good Hunting

Regarding Griffin's edit, here is my experience since U1:

- the SA-10 _usually_ engages at approx. 50 nm
- the 88 has enough range to engage at that distance -- from FL300+ and .95m
- I hit burner @ 50mn and fire around 45nm, turn and burn back out to 50nm
- any missiles in the air will not track outside of 50nm, so circle the target at +50 while the 88 wanders toward the radar
- expect a 60-90 sec. ToF ... an eternity with the 10 barking in your ear
- leaving that 50-55 mile range lowers your pk greatly.

MS

We've agreed in the debrief that the extra AGM-88's
won't count.

Flight Role: SEAD
Intruder21: "Veiland" AA=0 AG=0 TECHNICAL
Intruder22: "Floyd" AA=? AG=? ?

Floyd will have to provide the final details and score.

Initially it went well, though i halfway through the flight realised that I had mixed up Vandal and Hunter flight on my notes, so that when I tried to call Utopic, i was calling for Vandal rather than Hunter.
With the SA-10 being taken care of by Talon, we initially only had 1 SA-11 east of flightplan which was taken out by Floyd.
After the crash, we pushed further north and had a SA-11 pop up well north west of target area.
At this point something happened to my internet connection, and with the light flicking due to a thunderstorm, i decided to call it a night. 20 min later my TV and Internet went down for the rest of the evening.

Hunter32: "Zipgun" AA=1 AG=0 RTB
Hunter33: "Poppy" AA=0 AG=0 RTB
Hunter34: "Tank" AA=3 AG=0 RTB

MS

We had 3 engagements altogether, with no notable notes.

The disconnect left us feeling 'scattered', even though after the reconnect the Escort flight was actually rejoined.

We were a bit confused about the SA10 being taken out, due to Griffin being shot down before the missile hit.

The SEAD flights did a great job taking out the SAMs and Vosene's call to inch forward, as we were advancing towards the target area was also a good call.

For us, the comms were a bit too busy, also due to the AI, and the Uniform calls overlapping the Victor calls. Not sure there's something to be done about that.

Flight Role: SEAD ESCORT
Talon41: "Griffin" AA=0 AG=1 KIA

Took off and headed straight for the SA-10 to clear the way for the escort. I had a shot at 50+ miles but got stooped and went a little closer before firing. I killed the Flap Lid but one of the three SA-10s fired at me blew me to the four winds.

EDIT On review of the ACMI I noted that the first two SA-10 missiles were launched at me when I was 55 miles from them. I didn't have jammers on as I wanted the Flap Lid to "light up".

Interesting as a point of reference.

Vandal 12: "Griffin" AA=0 AG=0 RTB

Mango - Tech

MS

Ingressed as planned. Held waiting for air threats and SAMs to be cleared but then server crashed.

Mango could not join due to technical issues therefore Griffin joined the No 2 slot having already been shot down by an SA-10 in Talon41.

On rejoining Vandal 1 had encroached close to EF2000 capping over the target. Flight immediately went Split S and defensive with active missiles fired at Vandal 1.

Hunter1 cleared the EF2000 and the SAMS were down so Vandal 1 proceeded into the target and destroyed it as fragged.

During RTB there was a enemy aircraft near home plate but this was cold and continuing South so no factor.

Intruder22 then called for a delouse due to a close Mig_29, Vandal 1 turned back to the North to support but the Mig-29 had already been destroyed by a friendly SA-17.

Vandal 1 then followed Intruder 22 in for a straight in approach at home plate.
