Two missions this week in separate packages.

1. Deep Strike on P'Yongyang Nuclear Plant
Black shall be Deep Strike (Lobo2) from Teagu and two from Blue (Panther 2) from Pohang shall be on Escort duty.
Package number is 11904.

The route shown below is fixed for all, with all steerpoint ID's to the target being the same for everyone. Timings are also important for SPs 3 (Hold point) and 8 (first target) but I appreciate that getting to them in reality may be difficult, so a Rolex plus 3 or 4 minutes is likely.

For guidance, TOT for SP3;
Panther 2 (Blue) : 9:55:30 (A28)
Lobo 2 (Black) : 9:54:30 (A26)

and for SP7, TOT is;
Panther 2 (Blue) : 10:10:00 (A28)
Lobo 2 (Black) : 10:12:00 (A17)

NOTE An additional target of a SCUD factory just south along the river from the reactor is available at SP 8 should weapons be spare.

Weapon choice is free, with the usual exceptions. A suggested load out has been prepared.

Package lead on this shall be the Escort lead.

Fig 1 - The Deep Strike route

Fig 2 - The Deep Strike Primary and Secondary Targets

Mission Success
Deep Strike - Complete destruction of Reactor and Processor.
Escort - No losses to AI flight from enemy air assets

Partial Success
OCA - Complete destruction of Reactor
Escort - Max of two losses to strike flight from enemy air assets

----------------------------------------------------------------

2. PPCAS on 2nd Missile Battalion
Green shall be PPCAS (Python 2) and two from Blue (Serpent 2) from Pohang shall be on Escort duty.
Package number is 11907.

The route shown below is fixed for all, with all steerpoint ID's to the target being the same for everyone. Timings are also important for SPs 3 (Hold point) and 5 (first target) but I appreciate that getting to them in reality may be difficult, so a Rolex plus 3 or 4 minutes is likely.

SP5, TOT is;
Serpent 2 (Blue) : 10:04:00 (A28)
Python 2 (Green) : 10:08:00 (A17)

Weapon choice is free, with the usual exceptions. A suggested load out has been prepared.

Package lead on this shall be the Escort lead.

Fig 3 - The PPCAS route

Mission Success
PPCAS - A minimum average of 4 kills per pilot.
Escort - No losses to AI flight from enemy air assets

Partial Success
PPCAS - A minimum average of 3 kills per pilot.
Escort - Max of two losses to PPCAS flight from enemy air assets

Happy flying.

Very amusing Private Ironman.

That DIY kit looks like it weigh about 50lbs but it won't come off! I've purchased that wireless Trackhat clip so hopefully that will solve the problems.

Flight Role: STRIKE
Lobo21: "Griffin" AA=1 AG=0 RTB
Lobo21: "Veiland" AA=1 AG=1 RTB
Lobo21: "Elmo" AA=0 AG=1 RTB

Mission outcome - PS

Despite ground comms and usual warping from me we managed to get airborne and RV'd with Panther 2 with good separation.

Using JDAM 31 v 3s we sorted on our targets. My briefing must have been screwed or we simply misunderstood things, but Veiland and I both hit the Reactors, leaving the processor untouched. It should be noted however that although both of my JDAMs hit, they only damaged the target. It took Veilands additional JDAMs to kill the target.

Elmo in No3, thinking we had done the job attacked the secondary and killed it.

On the return home, while Panther 2 looked after our rear, we encountered 2 x MiG-29A. I dispatched one and the other one did a runner.

Soon afterwards, Scruffy asked for a delouse from a MiG-21MF that was on his tail. Veiland duly obliged.

Once over the FLOT we all safely RTB'd.

Flight Role PPCAS
Python 21: "Ironman" 1/6 KIA
Python 22: "Mango" 0/0 Ejct
Python 23: "Scruffy" 0/0 RTB
Python 24: "Fisty 0/2 Ejct.

Mission Outcome MF - which is a bit harsh as we had to pull off AG with bombs still on the rails to defend ourselves as Escort were out of the fight.

Ingress - uneventful.

Element split to different target STP's during the AG attack Mango was shot down by ground fire.

With no Escort and no AWACS and now under threat on two fronts we tried to RTB but had to fight off 2x Mig 29's (one of which we shot down) and were then engaged from the rear by Mig 21's - that's not nice !!!

Only one of us made it home - well-done SCRUFFY.

I feel if we had been in contact with AWACS we could have defended our selves better, both the Escort and the Strike flight.

Flight Role: ESCORT
Panther21: "Poppy" AA=4 AG=0 RTB
Panther22: "Zipgun" AA=5 AG=0 RTB

Mission Outcome: MS
Plan: Escort 4x ship Lobo2 strike on Pyong Yang
Execution:
Ingress was fine, rolex +2 on target but good separation between the strike and escort. After the strike and egress we had bandits to the north 2x MiG-21 on the FLOT. Lost comms with Chalis1 north of the FLOT, so VID and TGP, hardlocking and investigating the unresponsive ones.
After the strike we egressed tail end charlie on the strike and had to defend AAA and then some MiG-29's north (Zipgun). Foxed those (1 kill) and flowed south back to the strike. Deloused #2 but the remaining MiG-29 was not a factor anymore.
Started sorting the extremely busy airspace between Seoul and the FLOT due to the high number of friendly packages mixed in with bandits. But we picked up a 4 ship MiG-27 with escort from the north so we engaged that.
Dispatching the escort we engaged the 4 ship MiG-27. Bingo on weapons we RTB and split from package for Pohang.

Flight Role: ESCORT
Serpent21: "Vosene" AA=0 AG=0 KIA
Serpent22: "Sabre" AA=1 AG=0 EJT

Mission Outcome: PS

Plan: Escort for Python2, PPCAS. Two enemy airbase threats were SW and NE from the target so plan was to set up a SW-NE 10nm CAP NW of the target.

Execution:

Ingress uneventful for Serpent2, monitored other Escort engaging threats. Set up CAP as fragged. No 2 picked up 2 low level contacts to the SW, 1 told Strike to stay South of the target and directed No 2 to monitor contacts and turned to support. No response to AWACS declare calls despite AWACS operating in the area of Choongwon. This should be well within range when at A25+, need to investigate why this didn't work. No TGP (silly oversight) and no RWR spike meant had to VID. No 1 confirmed as 2-ship Mig-21 and cleared No 2 to engage, first bandit was quickly splashed but No 2 bandit got a missile away on No 2 and shot him down. NO 1 was in a left hand turning fight with bandit but had an issue with TrackIR and by the time this was corrected it was too late to recover from a left hand nose low turn and No 1 impacted the ground.
