Flight Role: ESCORT

Fury 11: "Poppy" AA=4 AG=0 RTB *PC
Fury 12: "Zipgun" AA=3 AG=0 RTB
Fury 13: "Sharpe" AA=0 AG=0 TECH
Fury 14: "Crowebar" AA=1 AG=0 KIA
addition #4: Fisty AA=3 AG=1 Thanks for support :-)

Mission Outcome: MS

Takeoff had some changes as #3 had a shutdown jet, and zoom issues with Trackir: it was checked before but once in the pit #3 was unable and we (#3,#4,#1) decided not to call an abort and back to desktop but press on as fragged. We'll debrief that seperately to make sure we all get to fly.

Ingress as fragged. some comms issues (on UHF as per Vosene's debrief) and I had trouble hearing #2 while on my wing, and #4 but we managed ok and proceeded to our stp3 to get ahead of the package and establish CAP while coordinating ToT within the package. Being a three ship now I briefed a new game plan while ingressing, as the original one was non valid and build on a 4 ship. No plan survives pre-contact with the enemy :-)

On the north leg we had to speed up to maintain point while looking west for Kuum-ni (MiG-21 base). Some bandits but nothing looking for us so we skipped and proceeded to establish CAP: #1 N-S, #2 E-W, #4 NE-SW so we could cover Wonsan, and Toksan as well with hot and cold legs timing it right.

Established on the CAP the picture was clear and requested OCA to press. Using AI AWACS we had a good control of the area. 1 package out of Wonsan we we're monitoring but they we're taking off and heading West, #4 got one, but we extended too far out and away so a rejoin was called.

We pressed PT as well, and we're defensive AAA a couple of times, talked to SEAD and they helped us out (thanks).

OCA pressed, and while they we're over Toksan, #2 called bandits taking off, so we had a 4 ship Su-27 on our hands. I hit one with AIM-9X but he kept on flying, #2 called defensive (2xR-77) and I requested #4 for a delouse, but that didn't happen because #4 got fired on and KIA at that moment.
Now a 2 ship we went in fast and hard CAT I and kept communicating (calling shot on UHF) on maintaining SA.
#2 defensive move was high risk (low and fast over unknown enemy territory) but succesful and #1 was able to delouse #2 after 2mikes.
Called a furball but denied shooting into it, the bandits we're low and slow, and we had the offensive position on them. Finding them quickly was going to get us out, and I think we did that as best we could. Knowing we had support form Panther and a green lane if things got too hot.

Two down, two to go, we kept fighting and egressed ASAP due to loss of SA (#1) and risk of flanking. No call from OCA (Alibaba // miller-time) and we requested 'what state'; no joy. we guessed by the HSD we had to egress and I called an RTB. OCA was engaged with a 4 ship Su-24 (success) and we kept tail-end-charlie now getting close to bingo.

Requested Fisty (Panther 43) join us to make us more combat effective (fuel, weapons) so again thanks for that.
Secured the west flank and the northern flank while the package RTB'd we encountered 3 groups of MiG-21 north. Although not a danger then, we we're in a position to engage and get some easy kills.

First in, last out, RTB for tea and medals and a toast on #4 who unfortunately was KIA.

Falcon12: "Griffin" AA=0 AG=3 RTB
Falcon13: "FlyingStone" AA=2 AG=0 RTB
Falcon14: "Elmo" AA=1 AG=0 RTB

Mission Outcome: MS

Veiland: ELOA

We briefed four targets, two taxi ways and two runways, sorted from left
to right by flight number. After the uneventful ingress #1 saw a bandit
taking off from right runway and set up for an attack. Wingmen #3 had
to switch his target, but was already too close for a precise run.
The ACMI showed #2 evading two R-77 shots, but thanks to the Escort
the spook was over quickly and we could regroup over the sea, just in
time to pick up a four-ship of SU-24M, which were shot down.
The egress and landing was uneventful.

Sorry about the Tech, F1 worked after text check but then lost IVC - thought it best not to enter 3D and possibly screw it up for the rest. Checking settings on hardware to try and isolate the problem - will be tested on Wednesday evening when we undertake GREEN flight training - heres hoping.

Flight Role: SEAD
Panther11: "Vosene" AA=0 AG=2 RTB
Panther12: "Mango" AA=0 AG=1 RTB
Panther13: "Fisty" AA=3 AG=1 RTB

Mission Outcome: MS

Ironman - Tech
LOA - Sabre, Scruffy, Syringe

Plan
Originally a 4-ship, plan was for 1st element to engage radar AD threats directly over the target using HARMS with 2nd Element using Mavericks to engage Osa II AAA threat and backup Element 1 with HARM. Due to an IVC issue, Ironman dropped out of the Lead slot and Vosene took over, making a 3-ship, with 1 & 2 suppressing threats over the target with HARMS and 3 with an all AGM-65G loadout to engage the 2x Osa II.

Execution

Quiet ingress, 3 stripped to engage Osa II, 2 AGM-65G shots, one destroyed, one damaged. 1 engaged SA-2 just to the East of the target area and a Fire Can radar just SW of the target, both destroyed. 2 engaged 1x Fire Can, destroyed and the remaining Osa II as directed by Lead, damaged.

Now Dakota and Nevada, 1 briefed Strike that there were still some AAA threats active around the target and moved Panther1 feet wet to support the Escort, Fury1, as required.

Fury1 requested a delouse and 1 engaged x1 Su-27 just North of the target. Slammer missed, target may have been destroyed by another friendly, ACMI will confirm. Fury1 was now in an furball and now requested no Slammer shots into the mix so Panther1 monitored and picked up a bandit at 7,000ft outside of the furball. 3 was directed to engage but a UHF call from Fury called a shot on this target so 3 disengaged, highlighting the benefit of shot calls on Uniform.

Panther1 proceeded to RTB and during egress Fury1 requested support so Panther13 was cleared to strip and join Fury1.

Uneventful landing behind Falcon1, the OCA Strike, from a 10 mile final at night onto Runway 08. A minimum 3nm separation between 1 & 2 ensured 1 was clear of the runway before 2 touched down.

Overall a good flight with effective comms apart from the AWACS open mic that required a move of the Tactical channel from Uniform 6 to Uniform 7.
