Total Tally now 23 as I have amended score for Poppy to 2 x AA based on ACMI evidence.

21 to 1 kill ratio for the Squad on the night and that's with NO Griff ;0)

Well done chaps !!!

Before the options for next weeks mission are posted I think it is fair to say the air picture over the FLOT is still pretty hectic !!

Learning point, when creating the flights if you have to delete a flight you will get problems, we have seen this in the past on redflag so once you make a mistake you have to set the whole flight up from scratch otherwise you get the problems we had with messed up briefings and not getting datalink.

First, no pilot should have joined one of the reserved squads while the flights are
created because he automatically takes a seat and there will be hickups when that
flight gets deleted.

Second, i had both other flights on data link.

Flight Role: DCA
Stud11: "Elmo" AA=3 AG=0 RTB
Stud12: "Floyd" AA=3 AG=0 RTB
Stud13: "Veiland" AA=1 AG=0 RTB

Mission Outcome: MS

When we took off had no datalink to the other two flights which made the SA quite hard. Could see where the other flights were on the way in for the first round of engagements which was fine and got shots off. Went back to feet wet and listened for the other flights turning hot and cold but the picture then got a little murky, was finding it hard to know who was friendly and foe as everybody had their jammers on.

After going back to feet wet we saw some contacts out to the North so decided to engage those as it did not appear the other flights were and gave us some separation, our number 3 got defensive once but other than that all had good engagements. Finally heard the Redflag call at which point other than firing off a couple of a couple of missiles to put the red force defensive to aid our RTB got home without any issue.

Good flying from all in my flight, we kept pretty good formation for the majority of the time and it was pretty clear what we were all doing.

Learning point, when creating the flights if you have to delete a flight you will get problems, we have seen this in the past on redflag so once you make a mistake you have to set the whole flight up from scratch otherwise you get the problems we had with messed up briefings and not getting datalink.

I thought the squadron grinder technique worked, possibly need a bit more separation between flights. I think keeping a flight in two elements is better as even with three of us going in spread can sometimes be hard to all select different targets and get shots away at the same time without putting people in danger.

I think having each flight holding feet wet and then being called in one at a time may work so there is no confusion who is engaging who and firing on the same targets, so flight one goes in first, both elements get their shots away then flight two right behind them while flight one is cold giving them time to get back and regroup in formation again while flight three is then hot etc.

Gypsy flight

11 - Ironman AA=2 AG=0 RTB
12 - Poppy: AA=2 AG=0 RTB
13 - Zipgun: AA=3 AG=0 RTB
14 - Crowebar AA=3 AG=0 RTB

Squad grinder worked well - would have been better if Stud flight had been in same package and therefore visible on HSD.
Good formation in attack good comms good number of kills with only one loss - cant remember his name ;0)
Fox 3's were fired after RED FLAG called but only as part of a fighting retreat.

Debrief screen screwed so scores will be by ACMI review.

All flights MS and we kicked ASS !!!

Well-done every one, especially SKAL who took over PC once I hade a technical.
