Mission Outcome: MS
Took off and climbed to A32 with 20 mile separation. Passed an enemy flight but it was ignored after wrongly thinking another flight was dealing with it.
Pushed on to do a north south CAP east of Seoul. Quiet at first apart for some F-16s and M29s at low level. We could not separate them to shoot at so we left them alone.
Then came waves of Mig 23s , 29s and 19s. We engaged an number of them killing 9 in total. Some 23s were on mine and Floyds tail and Elmo and FS went and cleared them away only for them to take both of our guys down.
With one slammer left on Floyds aircraft we headed home. Tow Su 25s were potted heading for our base. Home in Flacon 92 attacked them with his remaining two slammers but no joy (damaged only), Floyd fired at one and killed it. The other disappeared, presumed crashed.

Mission Outcome: MS
Our route to our cap area took us on a dog leg past the air bases we were defending, where we found a flight of 4 IL28's inbound for an attack. We fired slammers on these as soon as we were within range as they were hot on the airfield. We killed 2, damaged 1 and some F15s took care of the 4th after it tried to escape North.
After a sweep around the airbase we turned North to our CAP area with 2 & 3 ahead of 1. 2 & 3 turned South on cold leg while 1 stayed on hot leg. 2 & 3 found 4 low level bombers near the airfield and engaged. Once these were clear we all turned North once more, 1 ahead of 2 & 3.
1 had large group of contacts on the nose inbound, mix of bandits and friendlies. Difficult to sort and turned cold. As I turned cold I was locked by SU37's and active missile appeared on RWR. Hit and ejected.
2 & 3 were able to sort the bandits and fire slammers into the group before turning cold. They were now Winchester and SU-37's held them at arms length from the bombers, so RTB'd.

Mission Outcome: MS
Up to the point I got shot down, we had a few hostile declares but most of them were bombers, which we most of the time decided not to engage.
One time, a Mig29 slipped through and was chasing #3 and was shot down by myself.
The second major engagement was with a 2ship Su27, #3 fired at one bandit, being in front of me, and I fired on the second bandit. On this engagement I broke the MAR and paid the price. The 27s fired both at myself and Lexi, and even though both enemy aircraft were destroyed, one missile also got me in that engagement.
Moreover, the other aircraft had fired at #2 but at some point he went defensive and acquired me, and then the missile already in the air changed targets and started tracking me.
Both su27s also managed to keep me locked up while they were defensive/cold, although that doesn't exempt me of my mistake.
I liked the mutual support of the 2 elements, and - especially considering the cluttered frequencies - the comms.
I also liked Lexi's flying and keeping in formation.
Also, the lead reversal for the 2nd element was appreciated, when Vosene took lead for at least one engagement. |
