Flight leads in this Sunday's official campaign mission, "Balkans Campaign 4" are requested to post a debrief of their flights actions by Tuesday, including any lessons learned or that should be learned by others.

Just to add to Reds report. Got the release cue, but the bombs wouldn't come off, then got silly over the target and disobeyed hard deck rule with consequences. Well done Reds on your return, runway was destroyed 0% operational so mission success.
Back to weapons school for Sabre.

Falcon 11 ; Sabre AA- 0 AG - 0 EJT
Falcon 12 ; Reds AA - 0 AG - 1 RTB
Partial Success
Took off , proceeded to target . Sabre couldnt get bombs off the rail onto target . I had a go , released in pairs and hit the runway - first section . I went A-A cover while Sabre tried another pass . Sabre got shot down unfortunately . I went RTB .
Easy mission but an enjoyable one . |

Mission Outcome: MS
Panther took off and took positions immediatly behind Fury. Fury repported MIG-29A activity ahead and we suggested they retrograde while we engaged doing a grinding attack killing 1 MIG pr element (I accidently fired a AIM-7, so only Elmo scored a hit in our element)
Griffin also managed to shoot down a hostile tanker.
Afterwards we proceeeded to our CAP area and immediatly got envolved in a standoff engagement with SU-27's. I had briefed a MAR of 20nm and we had problems burning through their ECM while maintaining safe distance. Consequently this turned into a bit of a porcupine ballet. In the end we managed to kill only one of them loosing Elmo in the process.
Before leaving with the rest of the package Griffin shot down a transport. While not a threat, transports in a campaign is a high value target and was thus shot down.
Flight home was uninventful and we landed as the last flight.
Was my first time as flight lead in a escort flight and repeatedly lost SA especially in the second engagement with the SU-27's and Griffin had to step in and respond on my behalf on UHF on several occasions.
Also I should have informed the other flights on the A/A picture.
Strike flights went ahead when the all clear was given by Sead, but maybe it should be SOP that both Sead and Escort should confirm the go ahead? I believe the SU-27's were a factor for the strike flight hitting Dubrovnik, so if they hadnt waited for the result of the first strike they may have been in trouble had they proceeded immediatly.
Flight lead is a steep learning curve...

Piece of cake: took off, a lot behind caret but made up on the way. No issues with SAMs or enemy fighters. Got to the IP, released and went off. Ironman had a few issues with releasing but got it sorted in the end.
All targets hit, nothing else worth mentioning.

Fury 1 SEAD

We departed Lecce first and proceeded to B26. As we passed the boarder we saw some Mig-29's on the scope and reported their presence to Panther and requested instructions. Panther flight was close at hand and ordered us to retrograde, so we circled right and slotted in behind them as they dealt with the Mig-29's and a very dangerous tanker threat ;)
As we approached Podgarica it appeared that the immediate area near the airbase was clear of SAM threats so we called Cowboy 1 in to prosecute their attacks. Good radio calls from Cowboy meant we were fully aware of their location as the pushed IP, attacked, came off and went feet wet RTB.
While Cowboy was attacking Podarica Fury 1 spotted SA15's active along the coast and warned Falcon 1 to hold off until further notice. Once Cowboy came off target Fury moved along the coast, but only Fury 11 could attempt to engage the SA15's. It quickly became clear that the SA15's were at the 'middle' airbase between Podarica and Dubrovnic and Fury did not have the stores to attack all the targets so we called the location of the SAM threat and advised all flights to keep well clear of that location.
At a similar time, an SA4 further inland came online, but it was well out of its effective range so Fury 11 called the SA4 no factor.
Fury flight found it very difficult to understand the location and intentions of Falcon but there did not appear to be any threats at Dubrovnic so Fury maintained a SEAD CAP along the coast near the 'middle' airfield to maintain position over the primary threat in the area. However, Fury 12 had slight technical's in pulling up his HAS and was not able to see the SA15 threat.
When Falcon reported it was RTB Fury flight deconflicted local airspace and RBT'd without incident.
Points:
- I thought it was really good to brief the take off/arrivals proceedures, very helpfull.
- I think comms between flights was mostly exceptionally good.
- I would like to point out that having watched first hand and on TACVIEW Panther flights grinder manoeuvresthat they looked amazing - really tight flying there guys!
- Respect the hard deck.
- SA15's are really nasty.
