Panther 13: "Skal" AA=0 AG=2? EJT

Did anyone get a tape or can Skal, Sharpe confirm your scores please.

Took off with out incident, got retasked to new way point.
Forgot to instruct package to proceed to new waypoint, but most made it there anyway.

Cloudbase was at 12,000 not a lot of time to acquire targets and prioritize.

Sabre shot down by ground fire, not clear on the others.

Interesting twist to the mission but the cloudbase didn't help the laser or guided weapons loadout.

@ Sabre: I was Panther 12: "Sharpe" AA=0 AG=6 EJT

All - apologies for the weather (again), it seems that BMS just doesn't want to do what its told, the weather should have been clear over the target. Future missions will be in clear skies for a while.

Serpent flight - SEAD

Mission Success

Floyd 0-2 RTB
Veiland 0-2 RTB
Griffin 0-1 RTB

After being redirected we've checked for SAM threats and destroyed
an SA-10, SA-5, SA-2 and SA-3, the last two close to the target area.
#3 was in a position to drop the cluster bombs and scored a hit.
With low visibility, no coordinates for ground units and running low
on fluel we've decided to RTB safely.

Python flight - Strike

Mission Success

Ironman 0-1 RTB
Zipgun 0-1 RTB
Utopic 0-2 RTB

Our package was NOT redirected so the mission was flown as briefed. Low cloud over the target area meant we had to come in fast and steep but we had assigned our own primary target whilst in briefing which made life easier. As second pass was required to ensure all targets hit.

Coming off for the second time we were spiked by Mig 21's so called Drop Stores and CAT I, we still had AG munitions at that time but air threat was greater and all primaries were destroyed.

Bandit contacts were intermittent and none were engaged. We regrouped at A25 just south of the FLOT and swept a 360deg out to 80 miles. No contacts encountered and joker fuel - we RTB'd landed safely despite heavy traffic in the pattern over OSAN.

Good mission Sharpe - just glad we did not get re-tasked mid flight !!!! I think that's when the wheels started to come off for some of the chaps, but then that was the idea I assume?

Escort

Shark11: Vosene 0 0 KIA
Shark13: FlyingStone 1 0 RTB

Plan - Wait for SEAD to destroy AD threats then CAP. Packaging planning was poor with no threat briefs, no flight co-ordination and a disjointed in-air brief.

Execution - During ingress engaged by SA-5 so turned South then package was re-tasked during flight. Never received an update from the package commander on the new mission or plan.

Proceeded to Anchor, started to CAP N-S around that point but saw on HSD that SEAD was pushing further North so followed them to provide support.

Set up new CAP over target NW-SE but Shark11 engaged by SA-2 from NE. Turned cold missiles defeated but then Shark11 hit by missile with no RWR warning. Debrief stated SA-2 so must have been a connection issue.

Shark13 was engaged by 2x MiG-21s from the NW and, having splashed one, disengaged South.

By this point both Strike flights were RTB'ing so Shark13 also RTB'd.

Lessons

Better pre-flight planning and briefing required even if done quickly (recommend use of a check-sheet).

From the point of being re-tasked mission fell apart, mainly due to poor planning and briefing of the new mission.

Anchor point was fine as an IP for the Strike but too close to the target and threats as a package RV. Ideally should have regrouped South of the target in a safe area, quick brief from the package commander then SEAD proceed in and provide an update on threats supported by Escort before Strike flights cleared into the area.

Thanks to Sharpe for the excellent mission.
