Scores are showing correctly for Green in mission results but zero in monthly results page. Crowebar/Sabre please can you look into this.

Progressed towards waypoint 2 supported ahead and behind by our escort flight. Turned the dog-leg into Syria and set up for SA6 overwatch and for pre-planned attack on south SA2. As lead element went in to engage the SA2, it was painted by an SA6 site on the edge of the inner RWR circule. Due to the proximity of the threat and the multiple flights in the same airspace lead decided to split the first element and engage both the SA6 and SA2 as singletons.

At this point we could hear that Mig-29's were ahead of us and we got pained by them just before we released our magnums. Being given this 'very clear cue to fire' we released the HARMs turned and extended 180 degrees away from the Mig29's at buster. Both the SA2 and SA6 were naturalised.

Once flight lead felt the lead element was safe and the Mig-29's were destroyed/nose cold he cleared the 2nd element to engage the northern SA2 while the first element went into overwatch. At this point a wall of bandits appeared to our front and right. 21 and 22 engaged air threats to cover 3&4 while working their way towards the target area. Having lost SA in a BVR dogfight and with 21 trying to get to the SA6's over the target area 22 called for a delouse of a Mig23 on the RWR that he could not pick up on radar or visually [thanks Cowboy21]. 22 took a snap shot against active SA11's in the area but did not get the kill.

By this point the majority of the flight was over the target area, (23 having destroyed the northern SA2) and were waiting to pick up the SA6's. However, only when our flight was targeted were we able to actively engage them, but we lost 24 (who heroically evaded about 4 of 6/7 9M336's that were fired on him from the SA6 site). Lead got the SA6 kill, while evading 2 9M336's.

At this point things settled down and Falcon provided overwatch at the target area while Gypsy 2 made its attack run. SA11’s were active on the return home but with no HARMs left Falcon flight broadcast instructions for other flights to notch around the remaining SA11’s. Return home was otherwise uneventful with the exception of trying not to penetrate Jordan. Nice formation break over home plate on recovery.

Many thanks to our escort flight for keeping us safe!

Learning points:
1) Its REALLY hard to try and deconflict air to air targets in a saturated airspace without cluttering comms or risking blue on blue. I for one need more practice/training.

2) Data Link seemed to be glitchy, switching on and off during the flight. This may be a one off technical but should be noted in case it happens to anyone else.

3) Don’t be afraid to call for a delouse - even for a single bandit. It turns out it can be really helpful if someone is nearby and in a position to help (again, thanks Utopic).

4) SA6's appear to be able to 'narrow band' targets (which has the effect of not broadcasting their position to aircraft with a HAS unless you are the target. The clear double edged sword is:
a) The SA6 can only search/track 1 target at a time.
b) If the target does not have a HAS then problems begin.
c) If the target does have a HAS you should try and get a HARM off the rail before/as you evade.
d) This type of behaviour could lead to problems in the event that SEAD is sharing airspace with other units as it could allow the SA6 to engage targets without presenting SEAD with a shot. This means SEAD flights may need to consider carrying additional stores to deal with this threat.

Pictures to follow.
Consent from the flight that this was a really good mission - nice one FlyingStone :)

Cowboy23: Ironman AA=0 AG=0 RTB
Cowboy24: AI - sent home

Climbed slowly to A30 before stpt 2 so as to remain close to the strike flight.
After stpt 2, we engaged when Fury had turned cold and hit 2 bandits but in the process lost Zipgun.
Afterwards, tracked and tried to engage various 23s, 21s and 25s with limited success. However the entire package was on its toes, so one way or the other the bandits went down.

Circled over the target waiting for Gipsy to finish the attack then escorted the package home without incidents as there were no other enemy flights coming for us.

Nice mission from FlyingStone.

Mission Success

Mission Plan: Close Escort for Falcon2 (SEAD Escort) due to number of enemy airbases along route where popup threats could take-off from.

Execution/Engagements:

Formed in box around Falcon2, first Element 10nm ahead, 2nd element 10nm behind.

2 groups MiG-29A & 29S: Grinder tactic
1st Element turned cold without shooting due to Spike and SA-2/6 mud.
2nd Element pressed, 2x Fox3 shots by Veiland, 2x kills.
1st Element hot, 4x Fox 3 shots Vosene, 3x kills. 2x Fox 3 shots Crowebar, 1x damaged, Crowebar shot down by AA-12 (honour the threat if spiked and inside inner RWR circle).

3ship MiG-21Mbis: WVR
Tally One by Vosene 3 o'clock low, 2x Fox2 shot, 1x kill Vosene, other 2x kill by Fury24. Veiland was no-joy throughout.

Vosene RTB due to Winchester & Bingo, Veiland continued to support SEAD.

1x group MiG-23MLK: WVR
2x Fox2 shots, 1x kill Veiland, then splashed by Fox3 from Ironman while in furball with another Mig_23ML (don't fire into furball unless sure of targets).

Overall:
Very busy mission both A2A & A2G.
MS as SEAD had no A2A losses.

Lessons:
As a Wingman honour the threat even if that means you have to strip.

Better inter-flight comms required to avoid blue-on-blue. If in doubt, Hard Lock & Call Raygun.

Mission Outcome: MS

Took off and climbed to A28 and headed to the FLOT. There was a lot going on ahead of us and the SEAD and Escorts did a great job.

Once we knew that the air and SAMs were down we pushed on.

Then the Mig 23s arrived. Utopic engaged one lot to the south and Novac took one of those to the east before they too were engaged by Falcon.

Onward again to the target and we started to be spiked by the SA6 at the target. Unfortunately Falcon couldn't pick it up on the HAD so I went in the jammer off while the rest of my flight loitered to the south. The SA6 started paying attention to me but Falcon didn't see it until Ghostrider, in Falcon, was peppered with them.

The SA6 radar was down and we went in with GBU 31's and hit our targets.

We returned to base while avoiding a lurking SA11 battalion. A nice battle break and good landing.

A really good mission with lots going on. Nice one Flying Stone.
