I didn't ask for them........I said it would be hairy
As long as I'm not flight lead

@ Utopic,
Don't need tankers they are a waste of bullets!!!

A tanker would have been a good addition to the mission! :)

Flight Role: SEAD
Stud 11: "Crowebar" AA=0 AG=2 EJC
Stud 12: "Utopic" AA=1 AG=7 RTB

Mission Outcome: PS

Our plan was to attack both SA-2 sites before engaging the firecan radar for the 3 AAA sites parked beneath each of the CAP boxes.

We reached the SA-2 sites without incident and #1 killed first SA-2. #2 attempted to strike the 2nd Fansong-B but found he had a technical where his HARM would not release. Meanwhile #1 thought #2 had launched and had strayed close to the SA-2 site. Multiple SA-2 launches followed, #1 took evasive action and fired HARM, killing SA-2 but was also hit.

2 then continued with plan and attacked the 3 AAA sites with cluster bombs, disabling all 3 sites, before supporting CAP flights. Utopic had one A2A engagement, killing a mig, before returning to base for an uneventful landing.

Lesson learned for #1 was not to take things for granted where Sams are concerned, and to listen properly to all comms.

Rabbit Hole

Flight Role: STRIKE
Weasel11: "Novac" AA=1 AG=1 RTB
Weasel 12: "Veiland" AA=1 AG=1 RTB
Weasel 13: "Griffin" AA=3 AG=0 RTB
1 Weasel 4: "AI"

Mission Outcome: MS

Climbed A29 and was uneventful until we approached the target. I requested picture and found Mig29 at our 40 miles. #1 & 2 proceeded to attack ground target with #3 staying A2A. #1 & 2 destroyed ground targets on 1st pass and switched A2A with #3 ditching his A2G stores. #1 & 3 sorted a Mig29 each and got the kills.
Shortly after #3 reported a 2nd group further to the east. Unknown to me at the time the AI flight Cobra (which I didnt have as a D-link) were engaging the Migs and took them low. Watching it back using ACMI Cobra didn't fire any missiles and got into a turning fight.
#3 was on the ball and managed to sort the 29's #1 & 2 unable to sort them from friendly. During this engagement our AI#4 was hit by #2.
#3 got both 29 kills. Thank you!

It then fell quiet in box Bravo so we asked AWAC's (Zipgun) to move station.
We moved to Delta which by that time was also quiet. AWAC's moved us to Tango as we were one of the only flights with munitions left.
Instructed to engage single Mig29 to our NE. #2 getting the kill.
Watching back on ACMI the 29 pilot knew his number was up with 2x120C's inbound and ejected just before #2's missile hit. Never seen that before :-)

We then returned to Bravo and then RTB'd once time was up.

Lessons learned....1 Make a note of CAP boxes before flight. Not cool calling them middle box etc.
2. Call Raygun and hard lock any target before firing in a turning fight. If its AI they "should" call freindly.

Anything to add from Veiland & Griffin?

A nice mission Wolfman. I liked the Idea that everyone had to fight their way in to target instead on having an escort. Would have been hairy if the Migs had bounced us early.
I did find the 45 min CAP a little too long to be honest, especially as the picture was clear. But otherwise nice
