Mission Outcome:MF

We were an Escort flight using M-2000 airframes, and rookie pilots. Tiag had a stick/rudder issue on T/O roll and was left in the grass at homeplate. Three took lead and assumed the pre-briefed position over Stonecat, while #4 led the element with #2 to establish the right flank. By the time we got into position, there were already 2 Mica-EMs IB on Stonecat and we could only watch the package begin to smoke. #2 managed to get a kill on one of the attacking M-2000s, but the failure criteria had already been met. Eventually, the remaining 2 C-130s landed at an alternate, so we all drove back home with our heads hung low.

Interesting TE-- short, but not a great result.

Interesting to hear about your tactics Crowebar, not used that one before. Glad it worked well and definitely one to consider for the future.

Tiag, although I couldn't make it last night, in response to your post I would say, we've all had our off days so thank you for your continued support to the Sqn and your willingness to pass on your excellent skills to others. Chalk it up to one bad night and let's look forward to a good result for the 185th in the FoF tonight.

My apologies to everyone for my bad "flying" yesterday. I was really tired after a very full weekend, long briefing, etc, and chrashed my Mirage.

Mission Outcome:MF

Serpent 1 were tasked to defend Koksan until package arrived and C130's were safely down. We drew a 15 mile box around the airbase as our outer limits of flight, and put a AAA threat stearpoint on the airbase to give us a 10 mile circumference for patrolling.

We left 1 aircraft over Koksan while the other two flew 180 degs apart in a clockwise circle at 10 miles. The idea was that when one of the aircraft on the circle engaged a bandit, the aircraft at Koksan became the support and the spare aircraft flew to Koksan and became the loiter. Following the engagement the two aircraft would split and return to a patrol as before.

The plan went well. We only had top try it once as we were informed by Challis of a flight of 2 A7E's inbound escorted by 2 F16's. #2 engaged the A7's scoring 2 kills. #1 engaged the 2 F16's firing 2 missiles and supporting both. But scored 2 misses. #2 was now defensive 2 slammers which he evaded before engaging the F16 at close range. #1 joined the furball supporting #2, #3 killed the other F16. Unfortunately the 2nd F16 slipped away from the furball, disappearing but was found by #3 and splashed.

2 hot refuelled and was airborne again, 3 was landed hot refuelling and 1 was bingo waiting to land, when the mission abort was called. 1 & 2 landed safely.

From Serpents point of view a nice mission. Thanks Dmans
