Flight leads in this Sunday's official mission, "Moulten Metal" are requested to post a debrief of their flights actions by Tuesday, including any lessons learned or that should be learned by others.

Our plan had us splitting at STP3 with 1-2 attacking the SA-2 and 3-4 going after the SA-4s. Due to the lack of 88s, we were forced to do low-level high speed attacks. As we approached STP3, the 1st wave of bandits forced us to break early and dive to get out of the way. 1-2 proceeded to target and 3-4 turned away to avoid the fight.
1-2 were jumped by 6 MiG-21s inbound to the SA-2, 1 proceeded a-g while 2 stayed a-a. Once in range, I pickled the shrike and it fell to earth like a flat stone. No kidding, a dud? Back to the toy store for slingshot. Homer was calling for help, so I doubled back to scrape some nasties off his 6, only to pick up an admirer of my one ... He was throwing spears at me right and left ... finally my tactic of running him out of ammo failed, when I ran out of flares... Pooof
Homer did manage to kill the SA-2 and Tiag killed an SA-4. Homer crossed south to take the other SA-4. Job done and low on fuel, the boys RTB'd without their leader (again). Only partial success due to an SA-15 kill in the strike flight. |

Mission Outcome: PS
Plan: Ingress A25 dropping to cloud base at stp4 for target ID. Attacking with AGM65's. Avoiding A2A action.
1st off we lost Griffin to a tech. He backed out to sort out a problem. On rejoining his jet blew up.
Climbed to A25. Heard Lobo were engaging MIG21. About this time we were spiked by MIG23 at our 3 O-clock. Turned south to avoid and called for assistance but the escort was very busy! After calling AWAC's. A Mig23 2 ship was at 20 miles. #2 & #3 each engaged and got a kill each.
We then turned back to target. Shortly after, the single MIG21 leader was detected and shot down by #3.
We then preceded to our STP4 and held until the SA4's were down. We had a TOT of 1730 so asked SEAD for a sit-rep. As the SA4's were still active we held. After 1 or so orbits got the call that the SA4's were down.
Preceded to target with our primary targets being attacked at 1738. All 3 factory's destroyed on 1st pass. On the 2nd pass only 2 of 3 warehouses were hit.
It is here where I made the mistake of, after releasing my AGM's I went too far into the SA15 threat. I was hit by an SA19. I was aware of the SA15 threat on my 1st pass and turned cold. On the 2nd I flew straight in.
My apologies to Fury flight.
#3 & #4 then RTB'd without problem. #4 taking a shot at a MIG23 (missile trashed) on his way home.
A see now a very busy mission Homer. Lot's of low level air threats. I can see why you gave us a warning of TOT is critical. We hit the target 8 mins late but got out just in time......Well some of us did

Falcon was one of two escort flights, and in mission planning I lost sight of the mission role to 'escort' and planned a fighter sweep to the South of the strike flight. This was quite rightly brought up in the debrief and apologies from me to both the strike flight and Homer the TE writer.
On taxi I experienced some stuttering, but once airborne I had no further issues. Once airborne we headed approximately 130 degs towards the mig29S bases. We picked up a contact to the far south of cowboys target area, on our planned route and were heading towards these when Skal reported that none of his 'pit' controls seemed to be working and that he needed to restart his PC.
In the meantime Lobo was heavily engaged and called for assistance, so armed with 3 AI, Falcon turned North to assist. Unfortunately we were quite a way South, probably a good 60 miles from the package and so were of no immediate use. On the way up, Cowboy also requested assistance. Skal re-joined as No 3 at this point. On reaching Cowboy, they had disposed of all the mig 21's. So we turned South once more, and found quite a few Mig-21's way down at A4 - A6 We engaged these, but due to our high level and their low level, there were a couple of leakers got through towards the package.
We turned North again to intercept these but they were taken care of by other flights. Unfortunately the original flight of Mig-29S bandits were now up at A36 and close enough to be a great threat. We turned South and engaged them before turning to run. But unfortunately both Skal and myself were hit. Skal ejected, my aircraft seemed controllable so I had an idea of returning to base but unfortunately it exploded a few seconds later.
