Flight leads in this Sunday's official campaign mission, "Parade Pooper" are requested to post a debrief of their flights actions, including any lessons learned or that should be learned by others.

25 is an overly pessimistic MAR. 20ish miles is the way to go on CAT III 18on CAT I. These numbersare for optimum kinetic parameters, that is, trans or supersonic speeds and 35+Angels. Do a nice downward (around 40 degrees down) crank, then a nice hard split and you will be fine.
Rule of thumb for non burnthrough situations: On the 20 miles mark, pump. You can easily find that on the MFD. On 40 miles range, when flyign straight, the horizontal ladder is right in the middle. So when the jamming contact hits the line, assume there is an inbound slammer with your name on it, and pump.

My only regret is that I tried to burn through for too long instead of going with a home on jam mad dog launch much earlier, as I had the room to fire off a hip-shot the whole time. Without the radar lock, I misjudged the closure to be much slower and our distance to be greater. Apparently neither party had a burn-though between me and the fulcrums even at 16 miles. Judging by the ACMI, the only reason they managed a shot on me was that I turned cold taking the jamming cone with me.

I personally always go for a 25 mile MAR with 29 spikes that I don't surely know to be semiactive shooters, and 20-ish otherwise.

Took off, on route the SEAD flight got threatened by MIG25s, we tracked those for a while until they became no factor.

After that we had MIG29S, 4 ship, high at angels ~26. I and Novac, we were at angels ~29. We sorted on lead element, I fired off a slammer and did a split S at approx 21 miles but at that point I already had a R77 inbound. My slammer missed, the R77 didn't. The same thing happened to Novac, but a few seconds later, as he was a little behind me.

Griffin and Mikuli engaged next. Mikuli fired one and turned cold, Griffin pressed after firing the first shot and fired 2 more. As a consequence, he ended up with 2 R77s inbound, and got hit. The last 29 was taken out by Elmo.

Then 2 Mig21s took off, and were eventually taken out by Mikuli and Homer.

Next, a 2ship of Mig29s come from north, also flying high. Mikuli engaged one, and both him and the AI fired at the same time, at ~16miles. Both missiles hit, and that was the end of the last of the Mohicans erm Weasels.

A first learning point would probably be, if the 29s are higher than you, RUN. Another could be that for 29s we need a MAR of >25miles? Floyd?

Mission Outcome: PS

Took off, climbed to A25. We flew a little faster than caret to get to target in plenty of time. First engagement was 2xMiG25s. 2 sorts, 2 shots, 0 kills, handed the bandits over to the escort flight. Second engagement was 2xSu27s. 2 shots, 2 kills.

We proceeded into the target area and all fired our HARMs at our targets. Unfortunately the western SA-2 and SA-3 were not destroyed.

There was a pop-up MiG21 2-ship, but it wasn't a factor in the end. We set up our CAP east/west. AWACS called a bandit to the north, so we turned north and supported Mikuli against a 2-ship of MiG29S. The MiGs were splashed, but sadly Mikuli was also.

Returned to our east/west CAP and supported what remained of the strike flight while they were in on target.

RTB to alternate was uneventful.
