Posted - 30 Sep 2012 : 14:18:59 Flight Role: Escort Viper41: "Crowebar" AA=1 AG=0 Ejt Viper42: "Mango" AA=1 AG=6 RTB Viper43: "Blade" AA=2 AG=5 RTB
Mission Outcome: PS? Not sure of criteria for this mission. Elmo in Shark43 was lost in air combat so this would be a partial at best for Escort, if not a fail?
Once airborne we power climbed to A30 and proceeded to cruise to stpt 2. very soon we picked up a group of jamming contacts to the South west of target area and focused our attention on them. We achieved burn through, identified them as F16's. We then identified a 2nd group jamming over the target area which was much closer. On burning through these were identified as 2 X F15's, which were 'HOT' aspect to us. The previous F16's had turned cold so Shark 41 & 42 engaged the F15's while 43 continued to monitor the F16's. Splash 2 X F15's.
Shark 4 where now heads down & hot on target. we had a single F16 loitering to the South West of target otherwise all was good. Then Viper 43 was spiked by Mirage 2000's to his 6 O'Clock. 41 and 42 turned towards 43 to investigate and were immediately fired on with the RWR going mad. 41 was lost, ejected but 42 was able to defeat the missiles. Meanwhile Blade in 43 took care of the mirrages scoring a kill on one and damaging the other. Well done Blade.
There was a further tussle with a group of F16's during which Elmo was lost, before Viper42 & 43 RTB'd safely.
An enjoyable mission with plenty of human opponents around. Particularly exciting when the mirages appeared from nowhere in missile firing range. We felt in the discussion after the mission that these were possible running silent and were vectored onto us by the Blue side human AWACs.
Also no debrief text.

Posted - 23 Sep 2012 : 22:37:19 Flight Role: CAS Shark41: "Vaughan" AA=0 AG=6 RTB Shark42: "Griffin" AA=0 AG=6 RTB Shark43: "Elmo" AA=0 AG=5 EJT Shark44: "Vosene" AA=0 AG=6 RTB
Mission Outcome: MS
Target: 15th Mech Battalion, near Mandumi.
Our tactic was to come in at low level and pop up to acquire targets.
Takeoff was uneventful. We climbed to A21 and proceeded along our planned route. Near steerpoint 2, we dived for the deck and went to mil power. I and Griffin went heads down while Elmo and Vosene monitored the airspace above us. I found some targets and handed them off to Griffin. He fired all mavericks and called off target. I was too close and managed to release only a single maverick.
Then everything went crazy with blue F16s and M2000s all over the place. Griffin and I were both defensive, both defeated missiles and all turned north. After a minute we turned south again, with Griffin climbing to provide air cover. Elmo and Vosene identified targets, fired their mavericks and went A-A. Shortly after, I fired my remaining mavericks and went A-A.
We fired several slammers with Griffin damaging an F16. Unfortunately, we lost Elmo during the scuffle.
Shortly after this, the escort flight was winchester and RTB. Accordingly, we also RTB'd to our alternate of Koksan.
All in all, a good flight. Fantastic support from the escort - considering the immediate and fierce blue response to our attack, things could have turned out very differently had we not had an escort with us.
Finally, we had some odd server behaviour:
- our Datalink didn't behave correctly - Vosene & I could only see Griffin, but not each other.
- During our egress I was flying near Griffin's 2-3 o'clock, but he couldn't see me.
- On landing, Vosene and I were both standing at the end of the runway, I in the left lane, Vosene in the right. We couldn't see each other.
Sadly, no debrief.txt again. |
