Posted - 17 Sep 2012 : 12:24:23 Flight Role: STRIKE Avenger11: "Vaughan" AA=0 AG=1 RTB Avenger12: "Vosene" AA=0 AG=0 RTB
Mission Outcome: MS
Our plan was to stay low, get in on time, drop ordnance and get out. Because we were going to be running fast at low level, we carried tanks.
We took off, climbed to A12 until 20nm from the western SA-2. Dived to 500ft and stayed down there, between 150 and 300ft. Had a single SA-2 spike from the west, then silence. We made use of the terrain to hide from the SA-2s.
We arrived 20nm from target a minute early, so we took a leisurely 360 degree turn before resuming our track. I cleared Vosene to engage the shop, climbing shortly afterwards to fire both of my mavericks at the shop as well. The mav picture was terrible due to weather - I couldn't see the target until I was less than 8 miles out. Called off, "Bin Bagged", sliced down left and we ran south at low level.
As we cleared the SA-6 circle, I picked up a contact right of scope, which must have been one of the MiG-29As which was soon after dealt with by the SEAD flight. Being clear of all threats, we climbed to A25 and RTB'd without incident.
A great mission, with fantastic support from the Escort, SEAD Escort and AWACS.
The only slight hiccup is that my Teamspeak broadcast seems to 'stick', so I had to ask Vosene to relay communications over TS broadcast for me.
No debrief.txt from me either, unfortunately. |

Mission Outcome: MS
The plan was to use the AI wingies on the SA-2s and for Floyd to attack the SA-6 while I engaged the SA-5. In the meantime we would assist the Escort when required.
We climbed to A27 in terrible weather in Box formation.
I sent my wingman to engage the western SA-2. He went off in that direction but despite being fenced in and weapons free, he did not fire.
I went on with music off to try and get the SA-5 to light me up. I climbed to A35 to get a long shot. I was lit up and engaged by the SA-5 but not before I had sent a HARM it's way. The Barlock B was destroyed.
Floyd had engaged the SA-6 at the same time and killed that one too. He had sent his wingman to engage the SA-2 to the NE. I am not sure what the outcome of that was.
About this time Floyd told me that the western SA-2 was still active so I turned and fired at it. My shot missed however, but I believe Floyd successfully engaged it.
We then set up a racetrack at A26 ready to support the Escort if required. Lumper then told us of aircraft taking off to the west.
We turned to engage and successfully killed three of the four Mig 29As. The escort flight came to assist and killed the last one.
We all RTB'd though my BMS crashed as I rolled down the runway after landing, hence no debrief text.
A simple but good mission which showed good SA and teamwork between flights, resulting in good mutual support and sensible decisions.
Lumper in AWACs was invaluable as usual, once again showing how important a human AWACs is.
In my opinion flying the Red Flag campaign against human and harder AI enemy is paying dividends in the improved standard of our performances.
Nice TE Novac.

Mission Outcome: MS
Mission Plan: Use the extra fuel to get very high, very fast, engage very aggressively, act as a close escort in case the strike was commited low level.
Excecution - Shots made: 4ship mig29A east of the flight path. 1st element engaged closest bandit element, 2nd element engaged remainders. Had 1 leaker, downed by SEAD flight.
Close escort act: 10 miles before target,2 ship Mig29S scramble reported. 1st element gated to the bandits and downed them.
4ship Mig29A on egress: Engaged by SEAD due to proximity, we downed the remainder last flight.
Lessons learned: Seems that PvP Korea has done good to everyone. Excellent comms from leads, excellent flying for my flight, everyone being where he was supposed to be, doing what he was supposed to do. A minor fluke on my behalf on the end, reporting approach speed and not abiding, resulting in a pretty tight, in terms of separation, given the bad weather, landing.
