Posted - 31 Jul 2012 : 20:56:15 I don't really have a debrief file so I don't know the scores. If someone (Vosene or Mango) would be able to post them for the escort flight, please do. |

Posted - 24 Jul 2012 : 15:10:10 Flight Role: Strike Cowboy11: Griffin AA=0 AG=0 EJT
Cowboy13: Wolfman AA=0 AG=2 RTB but too late for the bar.
We took of and climbed to A22. SA with other flights was good and picture from Lumper was very clear.
Floyd, in Fury 11, kept us appraised every time a SAM was killed and Blade in Falcon 11 made sure sneaky MIGs from the west and elsewhere didn't bother us.
We descended to very low level for the attack from about 30 miles out. The area was crawling with ground troops, but fixed use of drag weapons meant we had to do the low approach. I was just about to reach the pickle point on CCRP pre planned targets when the 7th SAM 7 hit me and the 8th had me in flames. Ejected into enemy hands.
Wolfman and the two AI came in in trail and destroyed the target, but Wolfman suffered serious damage, losing both MFD's and HUD. Using analogue instruments he tried to get home, but with valuable help for Floyd and Elmo, who both went back to find him and bring him home, he land safely.
Well done to Wolfman who perceivered (?) to bring his crippled ship home, giving us some good entertainment as he went, and to Floyd, Elmo and Lumper for not leaving him out there. Kudos!

Posted - 24 Jul 2012 : 10:30:16 Flight Role: SEAD Escort Fury11: Floyd AA=2 AG=2 RTB Fury12: Novac AA=1 AG=1 RTB Fury13: Elmo AA=0 AG=2 RTB Fury14: AI AA=0 AG=1 RTB
The flight took off as a 3-ship, waiting for the AI to join. On the way to wpt 2 we encountered a flight of two MiG21-MF-PFM and had to engage as they turned hot on us. After that #3, beeing in front at that time, was ordered to engage the two most southern SA2, with #1 and #2 flying gate to close up. #1 engaged the SA2 west of target and the AAA to the NE, #2 got a shot off at the SA2 to the NE and the AI engaged the SA3.
At that time the Strike flight was already over the target area, so the flight could regroup and RTB. On the way back a group of MiG21-F turned hot on us and #1 could shoot one MiG down, the others by Escort flight.
A pilot of the Strike flight was hit over the target and had to be found and guided back to base by #3.
The debrief showed that several SAMs were fired and having the flights close together for mutual support enhanced the chance of furballs. The MiGs weren't that aggressive, so better opponents would require straighter A2A tactics.
