But the fact you didn't know where the convoy was is GOOD isn't it. Even the TE writers suffer the 'fog of war'.

Can honestly say that mission didn't play out atall to how I was expecting from the testing.. looks really bad that I managed to find the convoy but they were no where near where I was expecting them to be and took quite alot of GMT scanning and only managed to pick them up 10nm out due to our low altitude.

Sorry again Blade, I'm sure I requested permission to fire first lol but may not have.. JSOW's are just total overkill lol.. Will be submitting another mission shortly Griffin with some valuable lessons learnt for this one :)

Flight Role: (PPCAS)
Cobra11: "Blade" AA=0 AG=0 RTB
Cobra12: "Navman" AA=0 AG=0 TECH
Cobra13: "Joif" AA=0 AG=24 RTB
Cobra14: "Mango" AA=0 AG=0 RTB

Mission Outcome: MS
Loa from Crowebar

Mission plan

Loiter a bit to give escort and sead escort time to clear the area, then fly to target area and S&D battalion with JSOWs.

We took off, flew to steer point 2 and 3 while climbing to A22. In between we did a 360 to allow for additional time needed by the escort flights.

After that, we were given the green light to move in. We dropped to A7 to be partially covered from SAMs by the terrain. 3 found the targets and fired at them. 1 was flying straight over the target when the JSOW impacted and could start picking pieces of JSOW out of the fuselage after he RTBed.

Further in the engagement, 2 was hit by AAA, but was guided by 3 to an alternate airbase. No aircrafts were lost in the engagement, and we were all able to RTB.

Battalion was annihilated by 3, so Mission Success.

Things to watch out for: splash damage caused by heavy AG weaponry.

Flight Role: (ESCORT)
Gypsy11: "Dmans1" AA=2 AG=0 RTB
Gypsy12: "Vosene" AA=1 AG=0 TECH
Gypsy13: "Oly" AA=3 AG=0 RTB
Gypsy14: "AI" AA=0 AG=0 RTB

Mission Plan: Sweep the area, stay A15 until SA5 was taken out, go high and TARCAP if other SAMS were out, or if not, act as a close escort on the low level CAS flight.

Excecution-Shots Made: Stayed A15, then performed high altitude TARCAP.
1st engagement: 3 Ship Mig23's. 2 Shots by #1, 1 shot by #2 3 good kills. Lost #2 due to tech.
2nd engagement: 2 flights of 2 ship Mig 21's on the FLOT. Closest group engaged by SEAD flight, furthest group engaged by #3. Good kills, no losses.
3rd Engagement: 2 Mig29A over target area. Engaged by #3 and #1, 2 kills,#3 winchester, RTB'ed. No losses
4th Engagement: 2 Mig29S over target area. CAS flight was vectored out of harms way, flight then engaged by a SEAD AC in the vicinity, then by #1, good kills, no losses.

Overview, lessons learned: Well played mission with good comms and SA. Only glitch was the SEAD flight flying dangerously close to the active shooters but they got away with it. Maybe next time we won't be so lucky, so that's a lesson learned from the mission.
Nice TE overall, fluid, kept ppl busy all the time.
No debrief for my flight, actually no debrief appended for any of the flights in this mission, strange...

Avenger 11
Flight Role: SEAD ESCORT
Avenger11: "Griffin" AA=3 AG=1 RTB
Avenger12: "Floyd" AA=0 AG=2 RTB
Avenger13: "Novac" AA=0 AG=15 EJT

Mission Outcome: MS
ELOA's from BAT and Lumper.

Took off and climbed to A28 athen targetted the SA-5. Floyd killed this with a single HARM. I engaged the southerly SA-4. First HARM only damaged it, second killed it. I was now Dakota. Floyd engaged the northerly SA-4 and destroyed it, but due to a glitch it still showed on the HAD screen. More on that later.

As we approached the SA-4, Gypsy were engaged with some Mig 21s. We were close so I engaged and killed two of them.

Novac and the AI were carrying JSOWs with the aim of killing the AAA in the strike zone. Unfortunately the AI was having a strop or something and wouldn't fire his weapons so Novac had to use his. He attacked AAA and the SA4 site (although he didn't need to), killing an impressive 15 legitimate targets. It cost him though as he was hit by flak and had to eject.

Floyd and I continued to CAP while Cobra looked for their targets. We got involved with an engagement with Mig 29S and I killed one. I got far too close to them and was lucky that they seemed not to be carrying AA-12s, otherwise I would not have returned home.

The strike finished and we RTB'd to a nasty batch of weather and even worse landing by me.

A really good first TE from Joif and I look forward to flying some more of them.

Comms were good throughout and consequently so was our SA.

Nice job.
